Installing Windows 11
Can someone help me to install Windows 11 Because i can‘t do it allone

you shouldnt even if you can:
its not fully supported, and isnt likely to ever will, so many games are likely to have more issues running in windows than in steam os with significant performance issues.

also you are likely going to deal with problems with audio and other unexpected issues for the same reason. you can read the experience of others when trying to do it.

Get a copy of Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, create a bootable flash drive. On the Deck, follow Valve's recovery instructions to boot from said flash drive. From there, installing Windows is a simple matter of following on-screen instructions.

Deck Wizard released a new more elegant method of dual-booting. The process outlined below will still work, but Deck Wizard's new process has a cooler startup screen.

For dual-boot you'll need Rufus

You'll use it to create 3 bootable flash drives with the following files:
1. SteamOS recovery image

2. GParted partition editor(I used 1.4.0-1-amd64.iso)

Part 1:
1. Insert your Steam Recovery USB
2. Hold Volume Down + Power until you hear a beep. It will enter the boot menu.
3. Select your USB drive and it will boot into a desktop environment
4. Select 'Re-image' Deck. It will give you fresh installation and then reboot you into SteamOS first boot process.
5. Sign in, then do your updates
6. Shutdown

Part 2:
1. Insert your GParted USB drive. I would make sure any SD is ejected.
2. Hold Volume Down + Power until you hear a beep. It will enter the boot menu.
3. Select the default option 'Don't touch keymap'
4. Select language. '33' is US English. Press enter
5. For 'Which Mode' select '0' and press enter
6. It will boot into GParted and you'll have to rotate the screen
7. You'll see your main partition as 'ext4 home' and it will have a large size(i.e. ~60GB for 64GB model, ~200GB for 256GB model, etc)
8. Note: No changes are final until you click the green checkmark on the top menu. You can undo with the yellow back arrow
9. Right-click that 'ext4 home' partition and select 'Resize/Move'
10. Change your partition size so you have the split you want.
You can choose the new Windows partition size in the first box. If you want 60GB enter '60000', if you want 100GB enter '100000'
11. Click 'Resize/Move' and a new partition will appear labeled 'Unallocated'
12. Click the green checkmark to apply
13. Right-click the 'Unallocated' partition and select 'Format as' then choose 'NFTS' from the dropdown menu. Press Format, then hit the green checkmark to apply
14. 'Quit' then click 'Exit'. Choose 'Shutdown' from the exit menu

Part 3:
1. Insert your Windows 10 or 11 boot drive
2. Hold Volume Down + Power until you hear a beep. It will enter the boot menu.
3. Select your USB drive and it will begin the Windows installation process
4. Choose Windows 10 or 11 Pro and proceed with installation
5. Select your NFTS partition with the size your created from the menu and from there it's normal installation
6. You can choose 'I don't have a product key' and enter it later, or login with your MS account to activate Windows
7. Do all the normal Windows setup options

1. On a separate PC download Steam Deck Windows drivers from

2. Put them in a folder called 'Steam Drivers'(or whatever) and extract them to separate folders
3. Put that folder on a USB drive(you can use the Windows boot USB if you want)
4. Plug it into your Deck and install the drivers according to Valve's instructions

1. Controls should work when in Steam Big Picture mode. The 'Steam' button will open the menu in-game so you can exit, etc.
2. For other launchers you'll need to setup controls using either GlosSi or GloSC. I used the Youtube tutorial from The Phawx to install GloSC...

This setup will auto-boot into Windows. To boot into SteamOS shutdown the system, then press 'Volume Down + Power' and select the SteamOS partition.

Game Pass PC games sometimes won't boot after switching back and forth between partitions, but all you have to do is go to Time and Date settings, sync time, then toggle the auto-sync option and they'll work. You can use UWPHook to bring them into Steam.

That should be everything.

This sounds basically perfect, though I have a few questions, would it be possible to switch SteamOS as the OS to auto boot into and selecting the windows partition to boot into that?

And second, does this method allow to run windows updates without issues? I know there are a few methods which can bork windows 11 updates.

When i start Windows 10/11 installation i receive a request for a missing driver, and i can't proceed, maybe anyone know why?
I tried loading every driver provided by Steam.

Anyway i find a solution, just had to use RUFUS correctly, so now i can have a Windows partition, unfortunately sometimes i need it... :steamsad:
