Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Cloud gaming support?
So the Steam Deck is literally using the same tech as a Steam Controller but has it changed at all? Cloud gaming is pretty simple to get going, download a supporting browser (Chrome) and play with an Xinput controller, which the Steam Controller was not. Which is what I'm wondering, is Steam Deck Xinput now? If it is then the base 64gb model would make a great emulator and cloud gaming handheld.

The Steam client is embedded chromium, and you get to a standard browser interface in BPM by just pressing the shoulder button.

You can add whatever program you want, the browser in this case, as a nonsteam game and launch it through steam and it should work. The only issue I can think of right now is with UWP games from the windows store because of how UWP handles programs.

From the IGN video. Chrome is already included in Steam Deck. Streaming is already a possibility here. After all it's just a PC.

Yes but if you do the same thing on a regular pc with Steam open and connect to Xcloud or GFN the Steam Controller isn't recognised by the relevant cloud gaming service. That's the part that worries me.

Umm i see. We will know after it releases. I'm sure Valve has taken everything into account and most likely talking with them.

Really do miss the Steam app on GFN.

If Steam Cloud Play feature is the "pick up from where you last played" feature , Nvidia demod it at CES 2013 and it is currently not working in GFN. GFN kills VM after exiting GFN and then starts a new instance when relaunching same game - so does not allow "the pick up from where last left" feature to work like it used too.

Steam app on GFN has been removed from GFN library for six months now too.

We used to be able to enjoy far more Steam client features through GFN than what we can today. Like play any game - there was no such thing as supported or unsupported in the old days through the Steam app on GFN. Nvidia seem to have have gimped the Steam experience on GFN but appreciate there are reasons for the supported game thing.

Nvidia just added some sdks for linux, which may mean cloud gamers do not need to rely on browser support on linux for GFN games for much longer

:sniffsniff: i can smell massive updates coming. Can you smell it?
