Steam Deck

PS Now
This is probably asking a bit much, but with PlayStation now, you can download games to your pc and play them if you have a PS controller plugged in. Any chance of the integrated controls on the steam deck working without needing a PS controller? Just trying to eliminate the need for the extra controller. I guess it would be up to Valve and Sony to make a deal as it needs to be an "Official PS controller". Idk the logistics of it but it would be nice to have my Steam library, PS now and Xbox game pass all on the Steam deck!! Ultimate mobile gaming platform or am I wrong lol

Sounds like something that relies on a security chip in the PS controller which means no.

You can pair a PS gamepad with the Deck

I wonder if you paired the PS controller to the Deck, would you still need the controller present to play games?

There is an install script for Lutris: https://lutris.net/games/playstation-now/
According to the website, it kinda works with Linux.

It also doesn't need a PlayStation controller.

I was wondering about the streaming/downloading and after a quick google I found this

Can I play PS Now games offline on PC?
Yes. However, when playing a downloaded game, you'll need to connect to PSN every seven days to validate your PS Now subscription and maintain your access to the game.

No. PS Now games can only be downloaded to the PS5 or PS4 console.

Ok yah it looks like you can't download to PC for offline play... Well there goes that idea :/

For the crux of your question: will it work on the Steam Deck?

If Sony makes it work through a browser (like Stadia or xCloud), or if they make their app available on Linux, or if their Windows app works through Wine, or if you install Windows: yes.

Otherwise: no.

As for PS 3, 4 & 5 exclusives, official PC ports will be the only viable way to play them on the Deck without cloud gaming.
There are some former PS exclusives that have eventually received PC ports, so it's fair to speculate we will see more in the future, though I doubt we will see any of the classic exclusives receive proper ports - if any.
