Update Notes for May 22nd

Hello everyone! Today we have a big version increase from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1, AMAZING, I know. This is because we're preparing for another switch patch which benefits from splitting up the updates in big chunky numbers. Anyway! Some fun fixes and even new features for today!

Changes

Added Online Leaderboards for the Daily Mountain challenge!
To help you with the daily mountain you now get two random Spirit Powers to help you!
Fixed the player's progress sometimes not being correctly loaded into the current player when continuing a suspended run.
Fixed a bug where jumping while rolling in a ball on the ground would shoot you in strange directions.
Fixed a bug where grabbing physics objects with two hands and then releasing in a pattern would allow you to fly all over the map with them.
Fixes for the altimeter sometimes not showing what you'd expect.
Fixes for the incorrect time being shown for runs on the Daily Mountain.
Extra checks the finish flag for the Daily Mountain always spawns.
Fixes for the procedural music on routes sometimes getting stuck.
Made walljumps slightly more intuitive.
Removed the invisible wall in Starwatching.
Tweaked the model for the throwable rope. Now no longer looks like it can be picked up after throwing.
Made the CatOwner questline more likely to appear.
Fix for interior players sometimes behaving oddly when continuing from a suspended run.
Changed naming convention for savefile backups.
Fix for unintuitive behaviour on the Spirit Totem menu.
Fix for floating grabby creature being able to pull the player and objects inside geometry.

Is zone 4 too much ?

I been trying my hardest to go through it, but most of my runs ends with either too many meteorite coming down a straight path or the geometry of the level making me climb to a dead end and having to basically hope the end isn't too far from where i am. I like this game, but the frustration has been building up badly...

Cutscenes waiting... waiting... waiting...

Bought the game directly on release - the demo was great! The game runs well, but there is an annoying bug! Most of the cutscenes are buggy - after triggering the scene, it needs between 5 secongs 1 minute to get the first sentence of the person. After that you can interact and it goes along fine... Please fix....

Update Notes for May 16th

Mostly just a little hotfix for yesterday's big patch!

Changes

Made the ejection checking a little bit less zealous. This was causing some players to jump at unexpected times when the system thought they were completely overlapping the wall.
Cosmetics unlocked from expeditions are now automatically granted whenever a save file is loaded. They are also set to unlocked more rigidly.
The amount of usable items you keep when starting a new run is now capped. (Max of 3 per item type)
Made the teleporter a item a lot more fun. Can now go through walls and has a big indicator to show where you will appear again.
Spikes placed in lines are less likely to extend much farther than they were intended to.

100% currently not possible?

So I've done two playthroughs of this game completing all the available expeditions. Currently sitting at 32/35 for the final Mr Mountain back in town. There are two expeditions still unavailable. One in zone 3 and another in zone 4. Nothing I've done have made these available to do. Though, even if could somehow find out how to do those, that would only bring me to 34/35 for the total count. this means there's an event expedition that is somehow not triggering for me. What I'm more interested in though a...

Can't get through zone 3. Am I missing sommething?

I've enjoyed this game a lot so far, but hit a huge roadblock at zone 3. One of the first routes, I straight up get stuck at a certain point where there is nowhere higher to climb up. I tried to go to the left and I found a rotating platform, but to the left of that you're just completely blocked? I have no idea what to do there. When I finally got through another route 1, I tried the route 2 and the same thing happened, I got to a point where there was nowhere higher I could climb and bottomless pits on ...

Update Notes for May 15th

Hello everyone! I was off to a games festival for a couple of days, it really refreshed my batteries! So here are more fixes for the bugs submitted by players like YOU.

Changes

Can now suspend your game from any base camp. Just select Go to Main Menu from either New Tully or a base camp on the mountain!
Fix for a bug that would sometimes not save your gems and items when you suspended your game.
Added a new character to every base camp that will allow you to preview which story characters are currently on the mountain. This costs a small fee and will make a certain tough achievement more easy to get.
Made saving behaviour more consistent.
Adjusted spawn positions for a bunch of chunks to make it less likely players spawn in weird positions at the beginning of a route.
Reduced faint timer of Pulse Crystals in Zone 4.
New algorithm for finding a way out when the player gets stuck inside geometry, making it much less likely it could be used to skip large sections of the map.
Fixed a bug that made it impossible to retry the Balloon Festival Mission.
Fixed a bug that would cause a softlock when pressing the Steam Deck button on the bulletin board.
Unlocked character features are no longer all marked as NEW when restarting the game.
Made the hand magnetism work independent of framerate, which would cause weird issues of people flying past ropes/ladders/treebranches on higher framerates.
Made meteorite spawning in Zone 4 more fair.
When you are playing Surmount on Steam, it will show on your friends list in which Zone you are!
Various text fixes.

Transparency effects flicker with graphics on "highest"

Pretty sure it's a bug, because it doesn't happen on lower settings. 2560x1440 at 90fps with vsync on, if it matters.

Genuinely a delightful game. It's like if you take the fun physics-based climbing mechanics of Grow Up/Grow Home and gave it a lot more focus, and a whole lot more goofiness and charm.

The different areas really show how strong of a central mechanic the climbing is with so many interesting variations or new challenges. It always has be scratching my head and trying to figure out the best way to climb the mountain while managing my stamina.

Got this game on a whim and don't regret it at all. Probably one of the most interesting games I'll try out this year.

Cant play it on Mac Sonoma 14.4.1 (23E224).

I press play and it gets to a loading screen with a planet and that's it. Waited for a few minutes and nothing happens. Tried this a bunch of times. Tried with windowed mode and was able to squish the window until I could see a bus behind the world map but couldn't change or interact with anything.
After I have to quit out of the game and re-launch it gives me "continue" or "new game" as options. Tried both. Same thing happens.

I will change my review when this has been fixed.
