So...are they giving people who bought the game already Steam Keys?
Releasing this game on Steam a year later feels like a desperation move. Were sales really that bad?

Why would they have not just released this game on Steam at the same time as the other client, like Microsoft does with every other game these days?

I'm definitely a bit butthurt that I already paid for this game... I would have definitely waited for the Steam version so I can get the achievements (and Steam Deck will be awesome).

If Microsoft would allow you to connect your account to your Steam account and redeem a key that would be amazing.

No Steam key for you.

We don't know if sales were bad or good, Microsoft is trying to put all their games on Steam slowly, this has nothing to do with sales in my opinion.

It will literally be no-different from the Microsoft Store version (although there may be an item or two exclusive to Steam ver), Halo is both on the Store and Steam and there is no difference since on both you are required to sign in to the same Xbox account.

Epic Games, Origins and a lot of other platforms (in this case Mojang as well) can put their games on Steam as well. Why? This is mostly because it makes more traffic and the reach will even be bigger. The bigger the reach the more possible traffic and the more traffic the more money.

As 'main' content creator for Minecraft Dungeons, I can assure you that this doesn't have to do anything with the sales. I am quite certain they wanted to wait for this until the game had enough content to keep ppl busy for a while. I can confirm that it now does have a LOT more content than it had on launch.

You decided to buy the game early and support timed store exclusives. Why would they give you the game for free, when youre the proof that this system pays off?
