After all, the Draconian lore straight up involved the dragons using magic to alter their children before they hatched. So it's not too far fetched to believe that there may be a spell in AoW 4 that can recreate them.
If they show up, I'd guess they'd be as one of those independent race types. Like the Dragons, Giants, Fairies, Archons, etc. Could even stick them in with the dragons as some lower tier units.
Draconians might be a possible racial transformation spell in the Fire Tome category. We already saw that Orcs gained blue skin, and had parts of their body turn to ice when they became Frostlings, so creating dragon hybrid models for the other races shouldn't be impossible.
Also quite possible. Though I feel like that would be a less pleasing approach to such a fan favorite race, but they also did it with Frostlings as you mentioned, so it's possible.
i would not like that at all, in the lore the draconians where created from a magical ritual for which the dragons sacrificed their eggs to "unleash the power inside" and create the draconians.
it was even stated that the dragons where their ancestors.
while it has not been outright stated it was basically implied that they where transformed while inside the egg to hatch the first draconians.
it would be very very weird if other races could transform into draconians when there is 0 connection with dragons
Meanwhile lizards had a full 1/3 of the story game, dark elves get prominent campaign missions in 1&2 besides having some of most important characters in the lore
But draconian popularity keeps going just on their coolness factor even though they are kind of bit players among the removed races.
But in all seriousness, the frogs seem like a fun edition. Could maybe leap onto walls.
They're something completely new.
We don't know if we can give our people Draconian forms, or evolve into them with magic. Neither one has been showcased or referenced by the developers as of the time of writing this.
But if the game features Workshop support it should just be a matter of time before those things are added. As well as every conceivable pop culture insert.
Plus it looks like the system as set-up allows for Triumph to pretty easily plug-in new forms as either FLC or DLC or both.
I think you underestimate the difficulty with which such things could be added. Every body type added will have to be build to be compatible with every single variation of culture, transformation, and whatever the army customization tab entails. Not to mention making outfits available for leader customization.
Possible to be done? Probably. Will very many ever actually be done? Very unlikely. That is a ton of modelling and testing to make sure it all works. It's an undertaking that likely only a team of modders or very dedicated and experienced individuals will ever manage.
And I don't anticipate the devs adding too many via expansions or DLC later on. Because again, every race/culture the devs add will further increase the amount of assets needed for all existing races/cultures.
