ok im not a shmup(sp?) fan

ive played maybe 30-45 min of the genre before this game.

*BUT*

I am a diehard fan of anything Andrew Gilmour makes

his artstyle is LITERALLY perfect IMO

its richly detailed flows effortlessly from highly detailed sprites to richly evocative low-poly and its all METAL AS ♥♥♥ TO THE MAXIMUM

on top of all that its richly VIBRANT and full of color

I loved Slain and Valfaris so i was gonna play this regardless of genre.

and u know what?

I was HOOKED

the combat is smooth as silk the melee and ranged weapons had tons of impact and good feedback with each one feeling unique in its use and looks

the level design was fantastic with tons of challenges and hazards but never unfair with generous checkpoints throughout

and the boss fights oooooooh the BOSS FIGHTS

were tons of fun and each one was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome in its design none of them were spongy

Aslo if u r a HUGE metalhead like me u will pick up on quite a few references(mostly in the weapon names)

like im genuinely stunned at how good this game is

and only took me like 2 1/2 hours to beat and it was balls to the wall action every step of the way!

good game with solid and challenging gameplay however my biggest issues with this game are with the arrow keys to move the character as it doesn't feel natural to use them and your health as it there doesn't seem to be a way to get more health except from checkpoints but they are so far apart from each other that you end up getting sent back to the previous ones if you die, and it can be frustrating to have to keep doing the same thing over again until you can finally beat it.
