Be skeptical of any developer that hides reviews until release

Review embargos are there to hide/silence people's opinions on the game so that it doesn't affect sales - which is exact reason reviews exist in the first place.

Be skeptical of any company that has a review embargo, especially if that review embargo only gets lifted an hour before full release. There's a correlation of developers having embargos because their game is under-polished and unfinished:
- Cyberpunk 2077: 24hr Review embargo
- Anthem: 48hr Review embargo
- Fallout 76: 48hr Review embargo
- The Division 2: 48hr Review embargo
- Star Wars: Battlefront II: 48hr Review embargo
- Watch Dogs: Legion: 48hr Review embargo
- Battlefield 2042: 48hr Review embargo
- No Man’s Sky: Review embargo lifted on release

And if you've pre-ordered, god help you, because you clearly never learn.

Any fan of Stalker half expects this and so do I but I will still preorder to reward their determination to bring this game to us. They could've easily cancelled the game or even shelved Stalker 2 a long timer ago but no they still kept going no matter what happened. All that said, they can easily patch bugs and performance issues. If you do not buy due to these reasons, that is laughable in itself.

Tbh, I rarely read reviews these days. My opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to games.

OP also forgot to mention games that had a review embargo and actually turned out to be great (GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom...)

Exactly, people can pre-order and play a bit if they wish and refund if its a bag of turd rather than rely on the ramblings of a "smash the like button and subscribe" crowd (or even worse the likes of IGN with their inevitable ridiculous review).

I don't trust this for sure. Multiplayer being a big negative that will probably ruin this and make it a COD clone with a short single player that is unlike the original. They may be hoping the name sells it not the game itself
