Lead Zeppelin
I found this thing, and I have this feeling it should mean something. I mean, I guess it could just be a commentary on the stupidity of human beings to try to make an airship out of lead, but I don't feel like that's it. Whatever it actually is though, for the life of me I can't put my finger on it. Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah I know that, I just feel like it's supposed to refer to something. When I try to think of it, my mind jumps to the HIndenburg, but I know that wasn't made of lead. I think I remember the paint on the thing had the same ingredients as thermite, but no lead.

I am actually quite old, but you guys are making me feel ancient.
Led Zeppelin is a rock band from the 1960s.
Ever hear "Stairway to Heaven"?

That's it! I knew it reminded me of something. Don't feel too bad, it's not that I'm young, it's that I live under a rock as far as music is concerned; it's not that I've never heard of them, it's that music stuff is never near the front of my mind so I forgot.

I've probably heard the song at some point, but I never really pay attention to the names of songs so I can't say for sure.

Often touted as the greatest rock song of all time.
"There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
and she's buying a stairway to Heaven."
It starts off slow and quiet and becomes faster and more strident as the song progresses.

Does it have a line about a shooting star in it? When you say 'all that glitters is gold' that's what pops into my head.

No. The next line is
"When she gets there she knows
if the stores are all closed,
with a word she can get what she came for.

To me it's referring to a materialistic mindset that is incompatible with getting to heaven.
There actually was a zeppelin made of metal, if anyone's curious. It was not lead though, it was a specially formulated tin. The ship was owned by the US Navy.

Then I don't remember it, though of course that doesn't quite mean I never heard it. lol

That had to be expensive. Tin's kinda rare. Forget your bean cans, normal 'tin' cans are really just steel; tin is many times more expensive. 1929 huh? Aluminum wasn't as plentiful back then as it is today but for a Navy project I'm still surprised they didn't use it.
