Immunity Booster?
Where do I get the blueprint for the immunity booster? I finished a few under dust locations but don't have it unlocked to research.

Did you check the virus section of your studies menu?
I believe it unlocks after you pick up the PDA next to the Mantis corpse.

What Mantis corpse? I cleared out one of the Undercroft locations (or whatever those are called) and am currently blocked by the plants which require a Hypothermia Booster. The Hypothermia Booster requires Medical Reagents I can only find in Overgrown Greenhose locations, but I can't explore those without the Hypothermia Booster. Was I supposed to find a Mantis along the way?

You find Medical reagents in the laboratory portion up the ladder following the painted on Beaker and whatnot signs.

Is it just the original mantis corpse or any of them you find?

Same problem here research itself doesn't pop at research table, need that PDA. Checked dozen lab locations no PDA near Mantises, nowhere in labs at all.

So does that mean that the Mantis corpse is lower down? Because in the lab there was only a single Reagent. I had to travel to another location where I found 2 more. That's really not a lot.

Yeah, I got like three my first time, had to go another on to get more. The mantis is in the tunnel behind the flowers. You only need to make one of the hyper whatever boosters that lowers your body temperature and you should be able to clear that whole place. You don't need it to get back out there are ways around the flowers from the other side.

Indeed.. having such a crucial PDA in a place that can become inaccessible is a really dumb move in a procedurally generated game.

I suggest putting a copy of that PDA on the outside of the rubble that you use to close off that area.. or maybe don't remove accessibility to a story crucial PDA..

I eventually found it. Here are a few particular issues:

  • Progress in the story is gated behind a temporary consumable resources that the player won't gain the ability to acquire more of until after quite a while after that point. It's easy to miss or misuse the supplies, or to simply run out of time while exploring.
  • Progress in the story is further gated by an interaction that the play may not do before leaving the location. Some means is required to either force the player to interact, heavily telegraph that the player needs to interact, or simply letting the player research the Immunity Booster the same as any of the others.
  • Acquisition of further resources is then gated behind use of the same resources again. If the player runs out, acquiring more becomes needlessly difficult. A resource should not be the key to obtaining more of itself.

As of 1.4.2 the booster recipe appears to be exclusively on a data slate dropped only in the initial bug attack. It does not, as of my writing this, appear in any of the other instances, meaning you need to spot it and retrieve in the original location.

Yeah this bit of bad game design has me considering a refund. Being made to feel like the only way for me to continue the game is to start a new save has me very pissed off.

This is a bug we're aware of and working on the fix.
This isnt our game design, the tablet is just not spawning elsewhere when it should.
