you know very well that they were not physically able to reach those stages of the game in such short period of time. No reason to be salty.
yes, that's pretty much it. you can do some exploration on your own and find locations you are not required to visit during story missions, but towers' variety is really limited. The main shtick of the game is building your airship and there were posts about this process becoming more tedious with every update. Co-op can make your experience less boring to your buddies messing around with you and your ship, but this part also comes with issues.
deserves salty. But I think you misread the emotion in my response. It was meant to convey how much more is to come and nothing more.
Forever skies is the only game Far From home ever developed since it was founded in 2020. You probably mixed it with some other studio.
I think the flow of unlocking and crafting new items that give you the ability to go to new places and get more new items, etc, is quite satisfying. Keep in mind that this is not a pure sandbox like, say, Minecraft; there is a clear story goal, and tech progression is tightly tied to story progression, so you're not just exploring for the sake of exploring; you are working through a chain of story beats and tech thresholds until your final goal. If you don't enjoy that kind of gameplay, it might not be the game for you.
And what about datapads?
None of the datapads are mission-critical. If you're not into decorative building, you can ignore them. I also didn't mention collectibles, which have a functional value (you can sell them to get the big backpack blueprint, for instance), because again they're not strictly necessary to game progression.
But you don't actually _need_ to build a multi-level ship (personally, I dislike the stairs / ladders so I know for a fact that you can complete the game without using them :D ). If you dislike revisiting POI types that you have already encountered to the point that you are willing to give up stairs and fancy walls and what have you, you can just not do that except when you need more transistors or whatever, and it won't really hurt you.
The game is fun but gets rather boring. Reminds me of Raft and I got the same feeling from it.
I'm glad I got it really cheap.
I last played this game five days after it was released for early access and you could do almost all of those things at that point in time. I don't recall curing myself (maybe it was possible, I just don't remember), but that's about it. I came back to this game because I saw some folks streaming it and wanted to see what a year and a half had gotten it. Apparently that was co-op. Useless friggin co-op. It's hard to express how disappointing that discovery was.
All due respect, but so much content has been added since the start of early access. Yes, we have added a co-op mode, which is a big thing, but its still barely scratching the surface. Also you only went to the first underdust location at the start of early access...you go a lot further now. So much has been added since then
- Continued story after the first underdust visit
- New locations big and small
- Combat mechanics
- New technology for the airship
- New player upgrade system, armour, flashlight, back[ack levels etc
- Gardening
- New cutscenes
- So many new airship modules
- Community requested QOL improvements like craft from storage, toggle snapping, moving full containers without emptying the storage boxes and more
- New enemies
- More story elements added to the early game (the game at the launch of EA)
- Completely re-worked core gameloop based on player feedback and to incorporate co-op
- Artifact trading system
And more that I know I can't think of right now :D
Its all there in the news tab, or try it for yourself!
