moth swarm (resolved)

I'm looking for the spawn conditions of moth swarms for the total eclipse achievement, I've only ever seen them when my ship is small in the early game. is there any particular reason?

From my experience you don't need a moth swarm to get them all you need to do is use an improved moth lure and then its rng if you get the fat moth and fat shiny moth

I thought the achievement was to fly through a swarm

Now that you mention it, I've also only gotten the moth swarms near the beginning of the game. Something makes me think that it spawns only in the 3km starting area.

I've no idea what achievement that is, so I can't help in that regard.

EDIT: Actually, I have that achievement and it has nothing to do with moth swarms. You just need to catch all 3 types of moths and put them in a vivarium.
