More trouble with this newer game release - locked out
After exploring a LOT of other towers it's bad enough that I can't find 2 more pieces of epoxy and that there are no petaled dust daisies at the bottom of the first "!" underdust lift (just what look like buds that give only biomass) to make it for the virus sample analyzer, now I can't get back down the lift. At the elevator door where normally I see "E Use", it's dimmed and adds "(0/1 players in range)". Apparently I'm not really there so ... am I done chasing early release games?

by any chance are your playing co op? not single player?
The (0/1 players in range) does appear in solo but only when your outside the lift and for dust daisies you can try to get their seeds and then grow them in the big pot back on your ship.

Single player since I started this newer game update. The only way I know of to get the dust daisies is by way of the underdust lift. I was able to use the same lift a few times in this playthrough looking for the missing dust daisies, but this last time no joy - can NOT use the elevator door to get into the lift. So I guess I can either start over and hope whatever I might have done to cause this lock out doesn't happen again, or if it's truly a game issue just wait and maybe it gets fixed after a future update. I've played this game since its early access release and have never been locked out like this before. It has to be a game ending bug without some console input or whatever. Thanks.

You can try to find a new lift tower; if it is far enough away from your current one, the tower will reset and resources will re-spawn, so you can get more epoxy to make the virus analyzer. Once you can get into the tunnels, there is a much higher chance of finding mature dust daises that you can collect. Alternately, there is a way to cheese your way into the tunnels without disabling the iceplants: go to the area where there is a ladder to an upper level right next to the fence that blocks off access to one of the exit points from the tunnels. You will need to go around to the upper level, then jump off the platform that the ladder leads to, onto the box on the other side of the fence. You can then descend into the tunnels, and get back out at the same place. You will have to squeeze past some iceflowers to go through some parts of the tunnels, so bring some medkits.

This specific issue seems to be related to the game getting confused whether a session is single-player or not; it should get fixed at some point. In the meantime, try quitting the game and double-checking that the session is set to single-player when you log back in.

Yes, I did quit the game and restart the game a couple of times but that lift's elevator door remains locked so I can't go down and try to get around the ice plants in any event. I guess I could go look more for another underdust lift with an orange "!" icon on the radar, but believe me, I have already sailed enough around the map to realize I'm stuck, there is no other access.
I'd find another lift access point and that'll solve your problems for sure. But not being able to go down the elevator, have you checked the keycard access box? that might have reset on you. The one to the right of the elevator and up half a level that you access from the roof.

Another lift access point will give you 2 epoxy right ouside the door so that's your best bet anyway.

There are other underdust lifts besides the overgrown ones? There certainly was many more to be found before this last game update. Now I've sailed around the map, around and through the mountains, north south east and west and I've not seen another underdust lift except for the overgrown ones which I'm not currently able to deal with. Is this what you mean? Is there another lift tower other than the one that always shows a "!" on an orange background symbol or the way to it on the radar map? Is this what you did?
Those other lift towers are not marked like that although I have landed on a couple and then left them. I suppose I should go look again, but I can't help thinking that the "!" marked lift is the one I need to deal with. thanks for the input.
