upgrade modules?

how do i use these? i have about 10 so far but cant see a way to upgrade my fabricator

You have to get the upgrade machine to upgrade equipment. Also you use those to research the upgraded parts. Fabricator does not get upgraded.

Upgrade Modules have 2 uses

1) consumed resource in the Research Machine to unlock items and buildings that are upgrades to an item you already have

2) consumed resource hen actually upgrading an item or piece of equipment from 1 tier to the next in the Upgrade Fabricator

For example, you can build a Deck Extractor from your basic Fabricator after you scan it at the Underdust Lift (purple light). Later, you can scan an Automated Deck Extractor at a different location. After it is scanned, it can be researched in the Research Machine. Then you can pick up a Deck Extractor, and go to the Upgrade Fabricator, where the basic Deck Extractor and some Upgrade Modules will be consumed to produce the Automatic Deck Extractor. The same process can be repeated, with the Filtering Deck Extractor -- scan it in the world, research it, then use the Upgrade Fabricator to upgrade the previous version to the new version.
