Best Save Time For Both Endings..?

When is the best time to make a backup of my save if I want to get both endings..?

I am currently at the point were I have to take the cure to the cosmodrome, but have been going around trying to complete collections etc.

Basically I want to make a save and back it up and then finish the game. Then copy back the backup save and choose the other ending.

Save before you get to the AI Tree. After that is the point of no return.

When you reach the AI tower. Since you can't save in front of the elevator door or even in front of the AI console, since it takes you back to your airship on reload.

Okay then, and from there I do the Not save humanity, then reload and Save humanity..? Do I get the cockroach data before or after that.?

I personally had everything for both endings. Then Saved and went to the AI. Did save humanity the reloaded and did the cockroach ending.

One last question on this. In either ending do you leave the planet or do you stay behind in both..?

One, you do one, one you do the other. Each choice has different ending. Either way you get to continue your game afterwards. To build your ship and or collect what you are missing.
