ok how do I find the surface lift?

because I have looked everywhere, I have even gone through the wiki to see what it looks like and that it should be in the green overgrown biome but the problem is that even though I've definitely been there before all the green overgrown biome is now somehow on the other side of the giant fence and I can't get to it! I thought it might be something to do with the explanation marks on the map but those just take me to that same wall. what am I missing?

I assume you're talking about the 'Find the Surface Lift' quest, which is the first type of lift in the red biome, usually blocked off by an organic/wood wall.

It has you move towards a '!', leading you to a giant wall. Once you get close to the wall, it tells you to scan the giant green weakpoints.

When you scan them, you get an Organic Module to research/craft, then you can break the weak points to get through the wall and continue on your way.
