I can't extend the ship anymore
It says that it's too far from the baloon. But there is not enough place to install another one.
How can I solve it?

Not sure if you have picked up extra helium, but you can use the ship-builder tool to extend the balloon in the front or back, or both to allow more rooms beneath them. You can find helium on simple turbine towers (usually between 4-6 containers per tower); they are blue tubes.

You only need 4 rooms to the side to attach another balloon. So you will have to redesign to make the space to the side to put another balloon.

A solid suggestion too, I go a bit bigger, but the idea is the same. From what you start with, build right until you have a 3x4, or 3x5 space (I use that door as the center of those 3 left-most rooms), then you can add a balloon on the other side. to get to the end game, you "should" only NEED 2 balloons, fully upgraded to accommodate the various equipment, suitable garden etc.

I was giving the minimum to add a balloon. The only time I have seen it say to far from the balloon. I have built a bunch on the front of it. To the side I have never went far enough without adding a balloon. Which is 4 rooms. Has to be 3 in between balloon cores. I have had builds with one balloon. Maybe 6 by 5. Then added a second floor. Actually plenty of room that way. Keeps the footprint small also. So many ways to build. Makes the game great.

Indeed. Mine is 2 floor also, don't really need more than that, at least not at the moment.

So I need to build wide and add ballons at sides?
Now I have ship 3 blocks wide and I like it. I don't like to have fat monstrocity.

If there is no limit I prefer to expand this one baloon if it helps.

There is a limit to how long you can make a balloon. I think it is 4 times. That is it.

mine is 4 wide (two balloon) and 6 deep.

I made a 2x2 in the middle (open space) to hide my engine since the "normal" requires catwalk to install. I use two engines (upgraded)

The 4x2 in the front is my storage places and command center.

the 4x2 in the back is for my garden.

In total, my present one is 3x3 in the front section (atrium/cockpit below, workshop above) a 3x5 central space; which open above and the kitchen/bedroom below, and a 3x4 in the back, which is a 2x4 medbay below, and a 2x4 garden above)

nice, my current is 4x6 single floor ;)
It is pretty tight ship but works for me.

That's the key. It works for you, and your playstyle. :)

This is exactly it. Build how you like and what works for you. My last two ships I am rlfinally getting a design down I like. After idk how many playthrus I have done.

The point is that I can't build how I like. I like to build more at back and can't.

There are still limits. You need to build within them. If you are looking for one long ship. You can only build so long after you have expanded the balloon core. Also something to think about is a ship that long. Gonna be a pain to turn and not hit things. I have built one like that. It was hard flying. Just an FYI.
mazrados 24 MAR a las 20:17
Actually I mean a little bit longer. I don't build flying train :)
I hope I have 1 more extention for baloon.
