There are some "small-dog sized" insects hiding that will attack, may give you a good jump the first few times you encounter them. Once you learn how to recognize them, they won't be much of an issue. ( sound is important )
Few set "story" encounters may be a jump scare because of either first meeting something hostile, or other sudden visual changes ( for example, your character suddenly without warning falling to knees in a severe coughing fit, vision blurring, etc. ),
Honestly, aside from a small number of minor jump scares (some of which aren't really meant to be jump scares tbh) - the scariest thing is platforming and fear of heights.
There's a fair number of times you'll be walking over scaffolding or narrow bridges with nothing but "clouds" (dust fog) below you.
EDIT: Just to mention, since you mention kids watching: There are several instances you find corpses laying around - not terribly graphic, but in remnants of environmental suits with skeletal or otherwise very decayed remains.
1 specific instance for the main story quest could be nightmare fuel for some audiences ; but otherwise fairly tame.
we are enjoying playing this.
it was a hidden gem for me.
This is not a horror game but it still takes place in a dystopian world . On the other hand, I don't know how old your daughter is. If she's particularly young, maybe some monsters can scare her. As for the jumpscare, there are none in the game (apart from a small and very specific creature that comes out of the ground but its 1st place of appearance is always the same, you just have to prepare yourself or avoid it). The closest thing is that if you don't see a creature, it can surprise you. Also note: the game is not finished, the last chapter will be added in early 2025 at the same time as the official release of V1 of the game
