Where to find metal?

I'm in the tutorial, already extracted all the metal nearby from ruins but I accidentally used it on the wrong research. Now I'm stuck, all I can scan are floating energy tanks and synthetics. Do I need to start the tutorial over?

You can get from wrecked buildings scaffolding. You can get from walls and what flies by. May have to look around and or wait for some to float by.

I've taken all from what i can from thec area around platform. I just made the food boiler and was supposed to research something, but used up my metal trying to research something else.
I've been looking in the sky, but only see the 2 types of synthetic lumps and the energy modules.

It's uncommon, but metal scrap clumps will float by occasionally.

Do you at least have one engine to be able to go to next area? I have started a couple times and have never ran short on what I needed for tutorial.

If you do not have enough materials for the engine but at least have the water condenser, purification device and insect catcher for food together with the cooker, you can wait until enough metals have floated by to build at least one engine and use the plastic to make fuel from for it.

If you understand the basic gameplay, with food, water, scanning things and research, you can start a new game and tell it to skip the tutorial. It will start you off with the basics and a functioning airship. So you'll be pretty much in the same place you are now but with a working engine. You will need to craft fuel for that engine, but that only takes synthetics.

I must be overlooking them. But yeah, no working engine. First time playing and was just goofing around.
