As I read, new update breaks saves. But are they safe now after it?
I am perfectly fine with waiting. So should I wait for full realese?
Or was it final save-breaking update and new saves are safe now?

They have different modes now. The game needs a new start to play the game as it is now.
There is a legacy mode, for old saves so that you can play around with your old ships.
If you try to load an old save in the new game, then it will break it, as so much has changed. Hense the legacy mode for old saves. You will have to download a beta version as well for the old save, so I personally don't think it is worth it.
They have said that a creative mode is coming, and it may then be possible to load old save?

Nah, I mean current version, not legacy.
If I start new game on new actual version - will I be able to finish it?
Or 1.0 will need fresh start as well?

Nobody knows. The game’s still in EA so there’s no telling if they’re going to need to make another major change that will break old saves.

It was a bit confusing, as when i looked at the store, the EA tag had gone missing, so I assumed that the update was the 1.0!

The tag went missing for a few hours yesterday (Valve backend issue) it returned late yesterday afternoon though.

This is still Early Access :D

I have same question now, after reading the big changes planned still for 1.0 in 2025. Like biome separation and all that. I really don't want to restart the whole game a 3th time...
would be nice to be able to start anew without having to find all the data cards

Data cards system will be receiving a complete overhaul

We're doing everything we possibly can to ensure this won't be needed again.
Results are looking very positive, so I don't think it will be needed but I can't confirm it by 100000% just yet as we're still adding content.

This is mainly why i never invest too much time into an EA game. Restarts are not uncommon, and to be expected. I tend to buy EA for a game I'm interested in and wan to support so that I can play the full game at release, in the state that it is intended.
With some EA games, they can be significantly different on release than they were at EA release!
