How do you REMOVE plants from planters?
Been wondering this for a while. There's no prompt anywhere I can see to remove the crop. You can't cut it down with a knife. Picking up the pot to inventory does nothing at any stage.

So what do you do if you want to switch to another plant? Make another planter and toss the old one?

Small plants you can replant something else once it grows. Big planters you cannot remove plants from. You get a recycle machine you can toss it in once you find the BP for it. The idea is to keep at least one of every plant growing and have a garden.
So I wasn't missing anything. Seems kind of an oversight though. Since you might have multiple planters up for dust daisy for epoxy then want to switch them once you get a decent amount.

Its not an oversight, its Early Access. We're aware that this is currently not possible in the large planters. We have some improvements coming to gardening in an upcoming patch where this will hopefully be addressed :)

Unfortunately, even after the launch of v1.0, this problem still persists. Is there anything that can be done?

As memory serves, there are still planned changes to the plumbing system being worked on for a major post-1.0 update. Most likely, changes for the gardening hardware would also be in that, since that's pretty much the biggest part of what plumbing is there for.
thank god. the piping system in this game is such a pain in the ass.
Currently you dont remove the plants from the planters, you have to remove the planters from the plants :p
What I did before I had enough room or sprinklers was just moving the big planters that I was already done harvesting to some corner and crafting a new planter for the new seed. So, if in the future I need that fruit again, I just move it bellow one of the sprinklers.
