There is no matchmaking services other than that. People do put up messages sometimes looking for people on here.
He didnt ask if they can play it solo tho...
They asked if there is any kind of matchmaking or a lobby browser of some sorts
I am also tired of games saying "Go to discord and find people"
Imagine if Helldivers 2 was like that. There is discord for all sorts of stuff yeah, but sometimes people just wanna join randoms and have some fun without any extra work done by them.
Inhave gsme they have no steam discussion. Everything is done over discord. It is the way thst things are going to. As you stated. This was not part of the question either. Are you expecting each game to set up and maintain multiplayer matchmaking?
I don't want to have to put a bunch of friggen effort to find someone on a third party program just to play a game. I'm not even a zoomer, so if you're wanting the next generation to do it they're not even going to bother.
I have my own reasons:
1) I'm an e-celebrity, so any time I show myself in a discord it's an endless bunch of starstruck people or trolls trying to punch up.
2) If a game goes bad or we're not compatible I don't need the people in the game crying about it on a discord afterward. In other games I can just... never see them ever again unless I get matched again.
3) I'm extremely lazy, and also a lot of discords require a phone # to even use them, and I'm a cheapskate who doesn't own a phone.
4) I don't have any friends, and when I feel like a product, or a company, is catering towards people who already have friends before entering the game or using the product or whatever have an advantage, or that us friendless social outcasts are being ignored over these social normies and makes us not want to play the game at all out of spite.
Reasons others have:
1) Smaller games mean less people to play with, which means longer times to manually find rando's to play with.
2) People are lazy. I'm lazy, but Gen Z is insanely lazy and has low attention span. You can't expect them to "work" to play a video game.
3) If you just play with the same people all the time you get the same experiences and don't really get to see much new stuff. Forcing the solo's to use a discord to find friends alienates lots of personality types, and thus, playstyles.
I asked on twitter for a game key, got ignored, and since there's no matchmaking I'll just not bother. I doubt the devs will ever add one. Go look at R.E.P.O. The #1 complaint that game has, and the devs even made a video about it, is the lack of matchmaking. It did well in sales but it could have done tenfold if it had basic matchmaking stuff put in.
It's 21 year old technology.
Make a post on the forums looking for people to play with. Otherwise, make a new discord acct and look for folks on there (since you're some bigshot e-celeb, unless you *TELL PEOPLE WHO YOU ARE* you should get along nicely....
If not for a matchmaking, then a lobby browser at the very least.
You know, like games used to do 15 years ago.
