Wrecked Upgraded Crossbow Bug??

I have an issue trying to scan the Wrecked Upgraded Crossbow. I've been to the Underdust Territories and I've seen the item but it's inside a shipping container blocked by a charged growth blockade.
I was able to craft the necessary Charged Bolts BUT I can't use them until I scan the Wrecked Upgraded Crossbow but I CAN'T scan it because it's blocked by the charged growth... Am I missing something? or is it a bug? I've been to 3 or 4 Wild Habitats with the same result.

You can use the charged bolts on the normal crossbow. If you are using a controller, equip the crossbow and hold the down arrow on the d-pad. Use the right thumb controller to select the charged bolts. Keyboard and mouse not sure what the process is..

hold c to bring up a context wheel. you can change ammo type there.

Ahh I see, thank you . I was trying to use them by keeping 'em in my inventory but they didn't work that way so I assumed I needed to scan the upgraded crossbow first

I had the same problem. Didn't realise there was a context menu.
