Meaning, I needed to cut the size of my ship by half by the end game to reach +-10 fps in some area (I use a 4070 Ti super btw, it's not my pc I checked everything I could).
Otherwise I couldn't move the ship around and keep crashing into stuff all the time.
The good part ? it mostly happen that badly on specific location, and once you park your ship it's better.
I didn't touch anything related to the co-op patch, since I don't care one bit about co-op.
Still fun tho, so long as you don't intend to get too deep into building.
As for the games performance, we know some players are struggling. But overall, most players say we're on par with other Early Access titles, we did a survey on this in the Summer.
The vast majority of the work on performance will be done towards the end of production as the game nears feature-complete.
I exceed the min requirements.
edit: I'm pretty sure its something to do with the weather system since sometimes its ok and then other times it goes crazy.
As for on-par with other Early Access games, I have no idea what asset flips they're comparing it to, but in general, my experience with Early Access (most games I've bought in quite a few years) has not been anything like this, most of them have been pretty great.
All in all though, if you'd asked last month, I would've said the game is good how it is, with enough content to entertain for a 100 hours or so if you like to restart (I do). Since the newest beta dropped? I can't recommend it.
Even just looking at their projected 1.0 release date, compared with how much they're changing the game spells disaster for me. If they were expanding on what they had before, their release date would've made sense, but they've gone back to the drawing board and changed everything, so it's at best optimistic to expect the release date they want.
Not sure what kind of hours they expect to be crunching for getting the performance in line for release, but I just can't see it happening, especially given all their other ambitions. At this point, seeing their expectations vs timeline, if I'd known this before buying, I wouldn't have bought it.
It's not good, ALOT of hitching and sudden FPS drops (4060 ti/i7 10th gen), its has an uncanny ability to lag out when jumping, and for a game that has a small amount of parkour, that can lead to instant death which is very frustrating, lags out when opening containers too but you can survive that usually.
Being EA you can usually forgive these kinds of issues, but with it being this late in EA, I can't see them getting this problem fixed considering its been an issue since the start.
That's a real shame. I wanted to buy the game but read it's "not optimized for higher resolutions" which I'm sure I've never read before about a game. Sounds like my 4090 would struggle with it even and that's a dealbreaker
