Lobster pepper: provides solid food and energy. It's a big-pot plant so it constantly regrows peppers when harvested. One plant can keep you awake forever, just add water. Also one of the ingredients to produce brain cleanser, so you'll need it if you get stung a lot.
Canola multican'tspellthis: Weird name, but is one half of the cure for gastroenteritis, which is about the most common ailment you'll get since it happens whenever you accidentally (or in desperation) eat something raw. Even better, the distiller makes plant oil out of it. Small pot and is grown from seeds. There is a chance no seeds will drop but if you have enough to play the odds, chances are it'll be self-sustaining.
Dust daisy: once you go into the underdust tunnels and collect your first specimen of plant resin, the distiller turns these into a sustainable source. It's a big-pot plant so unlike canola, one plant will regrow its fruits endlessly and give you endless plant resin to make epoxy out of. It's also very rich in food if you boil it, on the same level as a glowing dust moth.
Sunmelon: Needed to craft advanced insect lures, if you like eating bugs a lot. When boiled, gives little food, but a lot of hydration and a decent amount of healing. Big plant, neverending supply.
Colander: used to make things like the medium oxygen tank and filter bottles. Of course those aren't common enough to grow it for, but it's also one of the richest foods in the game, so having some on the vine when you're hungry is worth it. Also an ingredient for brain cleanser. Big pot, neverending supply.
Coffee nut: apparently somebody decided that instead of drinking coffee, they'd cross it with a coconut. Restores energy. Also an ingredient for brain cleanser. Big pot, neverending supply.
Patat: the other ingredient to cure gastroenteritis. Small pot, but the plant is the seed. Plant one, grow two.
Meteor Bean: Superfood, restores food, energy, and even health. Big pot, but make sure you harvest all the beans at once, or one of them can glitch through your roof and be a pain to get to, and if you don't get to it the beans won't regrow.
Breathnuts: I hate these. Boils to an overcooked meal, but when eaten raw, it refreshes your oxygen, so it's worth having a few around for emergencies. It does give you gastroenteritis unless you have immunity booster on, so carry an electrolyte pill with you.
Sleeping lily: The endgame plant that cures the main plot disease, which as far as I can gather from the symptoms is basically AIDS, so I don't know why they're acting like it's new or something. It's a big plant so one will last you forever. The cure is still useful after the plot as it gives you a portable immunity boost without having to go down into the underdust and hope you find a mantis, and the boiled fruit gives you food and health.
