Horrifying frame rate - unplayable, now
I started playing this quite some time ago, and was using an 8-year old laptop, at the time.

The game ran beautifully.

Lately, with each update, the frame rate has been more and more sluggish in certain areas, like the Greenhouses, and some in the Underdust.

Now, that's on a computer with Intel (can't remember series) CPU with GTX 1070's.
This computer STILL runs Cyberpunk 2077 just fine, on High settings.
And have been playing Fallout 76, with no real issues.

But this game? It's horrifying frame rates from the beginning. The intro movie won't even play right.

Migrated to a much newer computer, with AMD 5700 processor, and AMD 6500M graphics.
To say the least, it runs the other games mentioned more smoothly.

This one? Still will not run.
Breaks my heart - I've been enjoying this game.

Anyone have recommendations? Some setting I may have missed that is causing this?
Or has the game just become this badly optimized, and I need to wait till it's polished a bit?

AMD 6500M graphics. That says it all. :D
A 1070 is faster then a 6500M, So while your CPU upgraded to a better one, your new GPU was a downgrade.
If you were CPU-bottlenecked in other games before they might run faster, but in this game you were GPU-bottlenecked, which now became worse.

Usually games get optimizations in the last phase of developement.
So you might want to the 1.0 release.

I have just booted the game up for the first time since launch. I ran it in 4K even though it says to run it in a lower rez, with everything on high and was getting a solid 120fps, so I don't know.
One thing, it was running a bit warm, so some more optimisation is needed here.

Just say its a laptop. That GPU is probably unable to play THIS game

Although why it doesn't tank with CP2077 is a bit of a puzzle
In Cyberpunk land laptops are usually one step sideways from a potato

I feel the game definitely needs optimisation and that it shouldn't be left till close to 1.0 release. I play on my gaming laptop and have the following specs that are above the recommended specs

Processor - 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz
Memory - 64 GB
Video Card - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU 6GB Memory
Game settings is everything on low and all the nice sparkly bits (shadows/bloom/motion blur) turned off

Early game I have no problem, get a decent 60/70fps, but when you start upgrading your airship, making it bigger, get all the machines in, deck extractors and then gardens fps drops to a unplayable 10/18fps. I should note that this is mostly only when i am on my airship, in the undersdust and various other locations fps goes up again to a decent (if not brilliant) 30/40fps

As it is I cant play the game which is a shame as I really like it. In my opinion (and I might be singular in this) implementing regular optimisations patches during development like the game Icarus does just ensures your game continues to run smoothly with the specs you have listed as you add new features and mechanics.

3080ti 12 GB, 32 GB 2400 MHz, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @3800Mhz.

Game runs pretty bad. Dips literally into the 20s even on medium settings, which feels like it should be impossible. Pretty much the only game I own which runs this poorly. Maybe by 1.0 it will be better.

same here, massive frame spikes till unplayable :( Hardware kind a like the comment above, so much more than normally needed

We're aware of the frame drops, you're not the first to say it.
We optimize the game with the majority of the updates we send out, but we will continue to improve this.

It should get better.

Wonderful to hear - I was very much enjoying the game and designing a cool airship.

Yes, it's a gaming laptop, so a discreet video cards (in both the older and newer).

As I said - even the OLD laptop runs Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Space Engineers, and most any other new game I care to load and play.
It's just been THIS one, which has made me very sad.

Thank you to all who posted helpful comments and replies.
I'll find another distraction for now, and peek into the game after I see new updates downloading.

I am playing with a I5 8500, 16 GB ram and with a GTX 1050ti is a little unplayable, but i changed the video board to a new GPU Radeon RX7600 8GB and running better, but everytime the fps drops inside the elevator, and sometimes the game burn all memory and crashes inside this. The game really needs otimization.

The frames will always drop in the elevator as you're inside a loading screen technically speaking.

This doesn't excuse the other frame drops though. We know they're not good for a lot of builds right now, and we will continue to work at it throughout Early Access. The performance will improve and dip throughout the process as we continue to add more and more content.

Are you playing the main game or on the beta branch?
