It might also be worth checking out videos made by a guy called DeLindsay on YT. He has done a whole series on airship building tips.
Finally, yeah there will be larger locations in the future.
As developer FFH_Greg says: Use temporary walkways to build a giant airship.
Since you get ALL the materials back when you dismantle the walkways, there is no loss.
Also, for walkways, only ONE walkway must be connected to the ship. After that, you can build the most complex shapes possible to reach any point on the ship.

Da Du bei der Demontage der Wege ALLE eingesetzten Materialien zurück bekommst entsteht auch kein Verlust.
Zudem gilt für Stege nur, das EIN Steg mit dem Schiff verbunden sein muss. Danach kannst Du die komplexesten Formen bauen, die möglich sind um jeden Punkt am Schiff zu erreichen.
Personally I much prefer to be in a huge area because when I usually upgrade my ship I'm doing a lot at once like adding an entire extra floor, or increasing the size to the point where I need a second balloon and since the games building isn't great (you can't just "move" stuff everything has to be deconstructed and put in inventory or emptied first which is such a pain) it's just easier to be on a platform and have more room to see what you're doing.
That was no longer an option for me after a one-off attempt. I prefer it small and clear.

Das war für mich bisher nach einen einmaligrn Versuch keine Option mehr. Ich hab es da lieber klein und übersichtlich.
