PSA: Tips for rotten food
1. Rotten food stacks to 10, so easy storage.
2. You can boil rotten food and get a nutritious snack "Overcooked Food" that nets 15 food and no health negatives.
:steamhappy:Enjoy!

Food is not a problem. You can easily play to the fridge.

rotten food takes a whole water, for 15 food. literally everything else is better..but in an abject emergency it might be ok. It's *only* saving grace is that it stacks..which is something rations should do as they have no spoil timer...and the stacking is a little broken..if you put a stack of rotten food in the cooker, you get one food, so you have to split the stack one at a time... a bug i'm sure they'll sort eventually

this makes me think that cooking rotten food was not an intended feature

You can craft rainwater collectors fairly early in the game and then build as many purifiers are you think you need. With big bottle default capacity being 20 units, drinkable water is a problem only very early in game.

Filtered water bottle is very viable to, even in the last poi area you will see random rain collectors where you can refill your bottle and drink from that, not to mention that you will find water cans laying around too.

*food* is only a problem early game... once you're established its a hassle, but not really a problem

Strangely you can also make Overcooked Food by boiling Breathnuts, so even more sources for it.

The inefficiency of rotten food just makes me continue to hope for the addition of a trash can that just has a single slot - simply deletes any item you place into it.

You can also eat the rotten food without cooking. Cooking it adds no food value and your health regenerates fast enough that the damage you take isn't a problem.
