Technical Support
Hi fellow Scientists,

**UPDATED 20/12/2024**

We are here to help - please look below for the answers regarding some technical issues you may encounter. Please note, this is a live document. More information will be added or removed depending on its relevancy.

**REPORTING BUGS & FEEDBACK IN-GAME**

- Our Feature Upvote board can be used to report bugs as well as suggesting features. Head over there to report - https://forever-skies.featureupvote.com/

- You can also report from in- game with our simple form. Please use the SEND FEEDBACK button located in the pause menu to send us information about any technical issues you may find. All feedback is welcome.

**GAME CRASHES / UNABLE TO PLAY**

- When you first see a crash window appear, please put your email into the description if possible (it would be great if you can give us some details about what were you doing when the crash happened). Some players have reported switching DirectX 11 has solved some crashing issues.

- If for whatever reason the crash window doesn’t appear, please send us a detailed report of what happened via email - support@farfromhome.games

- If you experience the same crash repeatedly in the same circumstance, please zip and send them to us as it will be easier for us to find the issue. They're located in %localappdata%\ProjectZeppelin\Saved\ - in Crashes and Logs subdirectories. Please send them to email: support@farfromhome.games. If you playtested during the last few months, or played on the beta branch, please check when those crashes were created - there’s a chance they’re from some old version of the game.

**ADDITIONAL INFO & CHECKS**

- Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date and that you meet the minimum specs (below)

- Forever Skies works on Windows 10 and higher.

- LINUX AND STEAMDECK
We are not supporting Linux or Steamdeck at this moment.

- Please ensure that VR devices and their desktop applications are turned off. They may interfere with our game.

**FOREVER SKIES SPECS**

Minimum
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10/11
Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: RX 580 8GB VRAM / GeForce GTX 1060 6GB VRAM
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: Up to 31 GB of available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Additional Notes: System requirements may change during the development of the game.

Recommended
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10/11
Processor: Intel Core i7-7700K / AMD Ryzen 7 3800X or better
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: RX 5700-XT / GeForce RTX 2070 / Intel Arc A770 or better
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: Up to 31 GB of available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Additional Notes: System requirements may change during the development of the game.

**FRAME RATE DROPS**

Due to ongoing optimization, we’re aware of noticeable dips in frame rate in places like the Surface Lifts. Optimization will be something we work on throughout Early Access. Side note: the Surface Lift is an interactive loading “screen”, so there will be FPS drops when using it.

**KEY BINDINGS**

We know players still can’t on their mouse. We’ve seen some players say they can’t rebind to the Numpad. This is possible, but you need to turn Numlock off first.

**SETTINGS **

Only changing the resolution requires pressing "Apply". Unfortunately, at present we have this visual bug with graphical settings where it looks like your settings have reverted back to "Epic", but this isn't the case. We're fixing this.

**CONTROLLERS / GAMING PADS**

We have full controller support. However, we have a few bugs in the settings menu where you might require a Mouse & Keyboard, so keep them close.

**PLEASE NOTE**

This is a live document. More information will be added or removed depending on its relevancy.

I tried several tipps and hints, but it keeps crashing randomly.

It's telling me this error message (excerpt):
LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 684] pResource->Map(Subresource, pReadRange, reinterpret_cast<void**>(&pData)) failed at D:\Workspaces\dev_ue_integration\EngineSource\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12RHIPrivate.h:1181 with error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED with Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

there is no physical drive "D:" in my system? might this be a problem?

it would be a great firt step if there might be a "QUICK SAVE" function or the Autosave may work correctly. I put it to 10 minutes save, but it's always at 60 minutes when checking back.

maybe someone interessting guess that might help. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!! I see all the streamer playing for HOURS and me always rebooting the game ;-) A bit disappointing and annyong, but I want this game to play, it's a great distraction to me.

Have you followed the instructions in the OP?
Im sorry to hear you're having trouble. Reach out to us with the issue, your specs and what you've tried at support@farfromhome.games.

Hopefully our team can help.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for caring so intense!!! I DD find a "seems so" solution online! If anyone of you might face similar probs, tray this:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control, then click the GraphicsDrivers folder and select New>Dword(32 bits), then name it "TdrDelay" and set it to 10, making sure to select Decimal.
Finally, reboot your pc and try to run the game, it should be fixed.
(this also should fix the D3D not found problem)

Found this online and it seems to fix my crashes (played 1 hour without crashing!)

I am playing on a laptop, I know its prone to getting hot, but I have other games that dont reach the CPU temps that this one does. This game thermal throttles my CPU. The CPU is a Intel I7-10750H.

Same issue here, my computer got to 98 C while playing in an underdust storm. I occasionally restart the game in order to let it cool down for a few seconds, using nivida 3050. Its not terrible because of my efficient fan cooling system, but it would be nice to have reduced heat.

Is there no way to bind keys to mouse buttons?

I have an odd control scheme where Mouse2 is forward, but the UI doesn't let me bind it.

Very frustrating.

This was in the most recent patch notes for the Test Branch:
" Many more keys are now supported for input rebinding, including: Num0-Num9, math operators, Insert-PageDown block, and symbols common for AZERTY keyboard layouts. If we still don't support the keys you need, please let us know through the Send Feedback form"

I have a bug, I think, but it's really not able to simply be described, so I took a screenshot. I would have just used the feedback link, but there are no places to upload an image.

The short of it, doing the Beta, have a ? for a tower on my radar, but there's nothing there, high or low. Gone from min to max altitude and nothing is there. Since I'm on the Beta, I assume it's the new wind farm variant with the gangplank(all other wind farms are checked off), and there are no other ? on my map.

Edit to add: I was in the vicinity of the ? that had no tower when I started up the Beta. I did find a second one, and got my blueprints. But it may be something to look at, that towers may not show up if you're too close after patch.

Thank you. I understand you're unable to provide a screenshot atm but could you still send the bug report here if you haven't done so? - https://www.farfromhomegames.com/en/playtests

Here's my crash report, haven't even managed to play for more than 10 mins. Before its suggested, i have tried dx11, no change.

My PC specs are pretty much the exact recommended specs. 3800x and a 2070 Super. The 'technical support' at the top of this thread, is not very helpful. I've also tried the beta version, exact same issue.

I've sent my crash logs every time it has happened and the window has popped up.

Drivers are up to date.

My crash report, i havent started the game yet. Its happen when i try to start new game > select profile and then it crashes at loading screen.
I tried switching API DX11 from DX12 and my GPU is up to date. Will try to verify game integrity now and probably will just wait for the fix.

Here's my spec:
GPU: RTX 2070 Super
Processor: i5-10400F 2,9GHz
Memory: 64GB 3200 MHz
Windows 10 64bit
---------------------------------
After verifying integrity and restarting my PC then switching to API DX11 (i restart the game again since it was DX12), somehow it worked and not crashed again after starting new game. I can play the game normally now. Im not sure if restarting the PC fixed it or the verify parts cause i did both.

When will the patch come in for all the new things like docking platform and save only button. Thanks.

That patch is due early this week.

Good afternoon! I had a strange bug that really spoiled the impression of passing the game: I went down into the caves and I had a mission in which I had to "find the source of the virus". I found a pet in a cage, freed it * (but did not explore the caves). then I flew to a nearby station to replenish supplies, returned to the caves, and the entrance was blocked up in a location where there were mantises and a pet. then I found another station the same, but there was an entrance blocked up. After some time, they wrote to me that I "passed the game"... +(This is very sad, because I did not have time to look at this location and did not find the source of the virus... Is there a chance that I just lost the original station or are the stations updated after a while?

In addition, I have two suggestions: I propose to be able to put dots on the radar... and if you connect the radars together, then increase the map

Yes, that cutscene and area is a one time deal. You're not able to go any further than that room with the pet.

The Virus Carrier is the glands on the back of the dead Mantis. If these are not picked up in the room, then the dead Mantis can be found elsewhere in the Tunnels.
