Much attention is needed to inventory management.
1. Option to move boxes/racks/cabinets around without emptying their inventory and picking them up.
2. A sort button to auto sort container contents.
3. A trash bin that destroys unwanted objects. That, or a machine that deconstructs unwanted objects into their base components for recycling into desired objects.
4. Storage bins that the various crafting stations will automatically pull from if the needed components are not in the player's inventory but are in storage.
The survival part is surviving the boredom that comes from constantly sorting inventory and storage boxes back and forth, i.e. avoiding being petrified of boredom while playing.
At the moment I can only recommend the game for people who have trouble falling asleep, but it's only just entered EarlyAccess, so there's still a lot that can be done.
But I do not believe that. Inventory management is one of the biggest ailments of almost every survival game I know.
Anything with spoil timer does not stack so that's a pain in a slot-based inventory system. Got 6 flowers? 6 slots despite being able to have 6 stacks of metal in the same 6 slots.
Hoping something done about that or at least give us backpack upgrade options and maybe some more sizes of containers as there are two right now that I'm aware of and one you dont get til "endgame"-ish. I say ish as endgame takes 5 hrs to get to depending how much you rush but its a huge improvement over starting container.
Are you serious???? 0 people who have played this game "love the inventory system" what are you on about? When I went from small to large containers that was a chore, Then when I got shelves that was a HUGE chore then when I wanted to change the floor again.. HUGE CHORE.. there is not a single redeeming quality to the current inventory system at all. I have probably spent 5 of my 30 hours doing redundant inventory management just to move a box.
The game currently does not feature the first three. Many items do not stack but most do. And you can split a single item off a stack, but not split stacks in half or in specified amounts. We have been told some are already being looked at. Hopefully, all of these should be addressed over the course of Early Access.
There you can upgrade crates, you start with a small crate, through research upgrades are unlocked, with which the crates can be upgraded and one and the same crate gets more inventory spaces without the contents must be cleared out.
However, you can't move the crates there but have to disassemble them and rebuild them somewhere else. You don't have to clear out the contents, they end up as a messy pile on the floor.
Likewise, you can expand the inventory itself by research, you can move things individually, specify a quantity to be moved or even halve a stack by hotkey, sort material in inventory and boxes by pressing a button.
So everything is possible without any problems. It just has to be built in.

Alles also problemlos möglich. Es muß nur eingebaut werden.
My one desire would be the ability to discard inventory items as it is possible to become stuck with an airship that can have nothing further added to it, and a full inventory that can now go nowhere until a location is unlocked later in the story.
Storage space can be expanded, I believe, but I'm still missing the upgrade that will allow me to build the barrels and shelves I unlocked with research. I've failed to find that on both play-throughs and don't know if this is a bug.
I used the 4 big storage boxes in the lift and the platform to work at my ship and store stuff for ages...that feels like survival to me. NOT slapping hundreds of boxes everywhere and able to move them whenever.. Im trying to play as much as possible atm because they will eventually patch it and ruin it like what happened to Icarus
Another option regarding the perishables would be an inventory system like in Medieval Dynasty.
There the boxes have no slots that are occupied but a weight limit.
For example a level 1 box almost 500 kg. The number of solts is unlimited up to the maximum weight. Each inventory item has a weight and occupies some of that 500 kg.
Then, when storing perishable goods, a new slot is opened for each perishable period.
Since the weight doesn't change and the number of slots is unlimited, that's not a problem. The box has its quantity limit, but goods with different durability can be managed without any problems, even if they are all goods of the same type.
Deutsch:
