I personnaly just dump them at the feet of the towers i turn off, for the purpose of visited locations.
I just take them out and throw them on the ground.. blinking lights dead and I save my sanity with my inventory management lol.
Same. I keep like 5 on hand.. that's it.. toss the rest on the floor.. you do not need a lot of them.
The auto extractor chews through them at ~2% per extract, crafting them would be a nice option to have.
In my experience, my tools consume more battery than what I can find.
In addition, you need the battery for other things, such as unlocking things or crafting (like auto extractors).
Due to low battery, I've crafted one more scanner and building tool.
I have only played for about 6 hours, plus another 25 hours on the beta.
I remove these from the towers that I visit so I can easily see which towers I have been to. But doing that has netting me so many of the things that I'm throwing them away. The developers have already indicated that they are looking into giving us a way to recycle unwanted items and get resources back. In order to get resources from recycling all my unwanted batteries, there needs to be a recipe for them.
This makes no sense.. how are you using more batteries than you can find?
Every single station with flashing lights has one. At the start of the game I had 5 within the first hour. You need like 3 for recipes then one to put in your charger and the research station. After that you just find them hand over fist. I had like 10 at one point just eating up inventory space. Now I keep 4 on hand and then just either pick up the one I find on the next station or toss it depending on how many I have when I land.
I know it's a requested feature, but I've got 3 storage boxes (the ones with 25 slots) filled with solid state batteries now. I'm literally throwing them away now when I power down a site as I have too many.
Then wouldn't it be great if there was a recipe for them so that when we get a recycler, we can break them down for useful parts?
Recycler would be nice !!
And we can make Fuel...
And since we can make lights....we have wires...
And we have circuit boards...
We have so MANY things to make BOMBS!
I just want to be prepared for when I meet those aggressive mantis creatures again.
To be honest, the batteries annoy me. In the beginning it's still okay, but as the game progresses it would be nice if you could cover the airship's hull with solar cells to generate electricity or get it from the engines, which can go hand in hand with higher fuel consumption.
Photovoltaics should be the least that should be possible and instead of small disposable batteries, a larger accumulator that stores energy for the night or during a storm should be preferred.
