Out of memory despite having way more memory then required to play the game.
This is the general formula one would follow. "your minimum paging file size can be calculated by X GB x 1.5, and your maximum paging file size by X GB x 4". So for 32gb i would just set the min and max to 64000mb, or do 32000 on both C and D drive as an example. Funny thing about windows is that it will attempt to use the least active drive for the pagefile usage. Not sure about now with win11, but i wouldn't think much would have changed from win10. However do mind this formula was intended when a large amount of RAM was considered to be 16gb. So it's somewhat out of date.
However....
Considering you have a 4090, i would assume you have at the bare minimum 32gb RAM, but if you have more like 64gb then you can just do a 1:1 ratio. A game isn't gonna use more than 15gb at most if it even uses that much, so keep that in mind lol. I found that a split page file setup works best due to how finicky windows can be with the pagefile.
I have seen this issue being brought up in those forums as well as Starfield and Remnant 2. Seems like a industry wide issue at this point
Yeah when it comes to pagefile, things can sometimes be a weird one off situation especially when it comes to UE4. However if you haven't yet, try setting pagefile on multiple drives and see how that works. It has strangely enough fixed a couple UE4 games crashing on me in the past.
Well only one thing left comes to mind for me. In Nvidia settings>Manage 3D settings>Shader cache size. What is the value set for this? I have mine at 100gb, so if it still at default maybe give that a try i suppose lol.
seems I am not the only one: https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/all-games-that-run-on-ue4-crash-on-startup/121306/34
Hmm the mystery continues...
