And correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like the parry window is when the attack starts moving toward your character, and some of the attacks don't really have that visual cue, which causes you to really know the timing.
No, the current parry window is fine.
Try parrying using the Legion Arm Aegis. It can perfect guard the first attack of a combo without even any upgrades, has an earlier and longer window than perfect guarding with a weapon.
It has / had a glitch, too, if you want to break the game: hold LT and spam Parry LB and it will perfect guard every time the mob strike .
The weapon block to perfect parry may be useful if it's a VERY quick Fury with almost no wind-up. The Aegis legion arm and the Blind-Man's Double Sided Spear handle's heavies are better for Perfect Parrying. Aegis has a lingering Perfect window with the initial red glow which helps if you deploy it a bit too early on some very delayed Fury attacks, and the Blind Double Sided handle has guard frames through the animation after the quick thrust out with the perfect parry window being the thrusting animation itself as the weapon goes past you and lingering for a few frames after.
The current parry window is small, but you can get used to it very quickly and I am very happy that there is a game which is actually hard, but balanced and satisfying to play, not like Lords of the Fallen in which I beat all of the bosses under 3-4 tries on average because the game was way too easy. Exploring in LotF is annoying af because of the enemy density, you have to constantly attack enemies coming at you from everywhere which is not really fun imo.
I am super excited for the DLC though, I hope it's gonna be like FromSoft games... DLC bosses = hardest bosses from the whole game.
EDIT: Also, it's funny seeing that majority of replies are actually people saying that it's fine, weak minded players probably went to play something else and only the real players stayed lol
More care needs to be made in the animations.
So the window is small, yes - but that's because the quite powerful block is there waiting to pick up the slack. I've honestly spent so much time practicing the bosses now that I can parry them consistently, it's the normal enemies that get me because I don't know their parry timing XD
Like, if it was easier, the game would be a cake walk, you just have to adapt and learn, also, this is a game where you have a parry AND a block with a generous rally system so part of the game is knowing when its safe to parry and when its safer to block, sure, you can learn to parry everything, i did for a few bosses, but it' takes a while.
