Just got to final boss and my opinions about the nerfs!!
When I saw so many discussion topics from people absolutely going mad about the nerfs I honestly thought they had actually made it easier or like way less frustrating but the truth is I am already about to defeat the nameless puppet and I have only noticed the changes on the Fell god.
I don't really get how the final area is a cake walk right now??? It is still pretty frustrating, not because you can't kill them, but because they can kill you in like 2 hits and you get cornered easily.
The core difficulty of the game is still there and even Simon is still a challenge even if I noticed his hp was lower than expected. Damn, the nameless puppet is absolutely hard, it reminds of Malenia from Elden Ring (probably because Malenia inspired both Laxasia and The nameless puppet).

I don't really get what the fuss is all about, the final area is still frustrating and challenging and the last bosses are extremely difficult still!
I sometimes feel that people in the souls community just feel threatened when it comes to difficulty to the point they feel that their playtime should be as awful and exasperating as possible.
I think toning down the hp of some bosses is great, they still oneshot you!

Anyways just my opinion, only Elden Ring has made me feel so much fun playing a soulslike I'm so happy the game came out and I highly reccomend it to anyone who is invested on difficult games. <3

You think that because you still have a long way to go apparently in soulslikes.
I killed Nameless Puppet on my 5th try, I consider him one of the easiest bosses in the entire game.

For someone whos main genre are these type of games, this game is incredibly easy after the nerfs enemies and buffs to the player

Edit: The only boss that gave me a hard fight was Laxasia, everything else died in 7 tries, max

I'm the opposite of you. My friends were waiting for me to finish it so I can give my "seal of approval". I flat out told them to avoid the game for full price. Before nerfs and buffs, I was about to recommend it... but now? hard pass, their target audience are not us, veterans

Oooh no. Someone whose not an experienced souls player finds the game challenging. **Clearly** they only think that because they have such a loooonnnng way to go apparently.

No offense my friend, but get over yourself. You're free to your opinion to tell your friends that the game isn't hard enough for you thats fine but seriously. Please avoid using the term "It's not for us veterans." like you're some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ war survivor.

Well as someone with well over 5k hours in Souls games, the game is in a surprisingly good state as far as balance goes. Especially for a studio that isn't triple A.

I'm happy you've been enjoying the experience!

I beat it on gamepass a few days ago and I do think the weight of the boss amulet was way too much and some enemies, like the mad clown and some bosses had too much hp, so I think it's good they changed that. However I haven't had a chance to beat it again yet with the new patch so I can't really say for sure that I agree with it.

Hit a nerve? It's my opinion, and those of us who have several thousand hours in this genre, do find this update bad. Like it or not, that is a fact.

I didn't disregard OPs opinion, I stated a fact why he finds this game even with this update difficult. This isn't offensive, or belittling, it's a fact. Someone with barely any experience will find this game hard.

Anyone else, will look for another game.

I have several hundred hours in these games too and I disagree with you entirely. So, nothing is stated as fact. Claiming something as fact doesn't make it true. It's just the echo chamber you've put yourself into.

My enjoyment of this game even after the patch hasn't diminished and I love the souls series as well. So how is your claim factual? And nerve? No. I'm just sick of people like you who are using the term. "Veteran." to refer to themselves to this genre like you're some war survivor or that it gives you any further credibility to talk about it. It doesn't.

It's embarrassing to that community.

"My friends were waiting on my seal of approval."

Tell me "I'm a Gamer" is the sum and total of your personality without saying the words.

Hey now, you take that back. This man is a veteran of the series. He SURVIVED those wars and we should show them the respect for their service.
Zengar Sep 28, 2023 @ 12:30pm
The only thing they needed to do was the increase to capacity and reduction of weight for boss amulets. That is already a huge buff. There was no reason to ALSO nerf the enemies.
And they went overboard with the specter buffs. It's pretty much immortal now and will last the entire fight with no wish stones.
It was a really really strong adjustment to be done. They could have gone slower, making small nerfs/buffs and evaluation. This seems like they hit it with a hammer.

You know Gael, right? Well, you see, it's a fake name. The person you fight at the end of times isn't actually Gael, it is MostlyPanda.

Man's just built different, I tell you what.

I love the both of you, in that "I'd definitely buy the first round" kind of way.

The other way would probably upset my wife.

I just can't with this "I'm a Souls veteran" crap. I've been with the series since Demon's in 09, and that means approximately ♥♥♥♥ and all in terms of my ability to dictate what anyone else's experience (or any other developer's design) should be. This weird possessiveness some folks try to exert over the genre (or the hobby in general) based on the logic of "I was here first" will never not be deeply pathetic.

That it frequently seems to come from people half my age makes it hilarious, but the "I was here first" canard will always be a losing gambit, because there's always someone who was there before you, and they just might view things differently.

What are you even doing here? That was a positive and reasonable reply. You don't belong!

Your games in steam only have few hours in souls like games, ER only 130 hours, show me your no hit runs, your challenges, I don't believe you are that good at this point.
