So about the Puppet-Devouring Green Monster
I'll admit, I've never read any of the complaints about him past "He's so unfair!". Naturally, after seeing a lot of such feedback, I was kinda dreading the fight before it even began.

Imagine my surprise when I got something on the easier side of things and actually sorta-kinda fun. First phase seems like a no-brainer - keep your distance from him in case he decides to use tentacles, bait him into his 4-hit combo and just dodge into it while doing damage in-between. Second phase - a bit tricky, but perfect guard timings were surprisingly easy, all things considered. Figured them out rather quickly and from there it was a smooth sailing.

Jump attacks in particular. Once you get into the rhythm, they're arguably the easiest to perfect guard, not counting those three consecutive overheads which are the exact copy of what Scrapped Watchman does.

So yeah, not trying to imply that I'm some kind of a gaming prodigy because I'm not, but now I'm genuinely confused by the amount of hate this thing receives.

It's funny seeing which bosses people struggle with and which ones they don't, because it tends to be all over the place. I found Green Monster to be exhausting, but not as bad as the absolute wall that was King of Puppets lol. Conversely, there's a gank fight coming up for you that I've seen plenty of complaints about, and I ended up one-shotting it.

Regarding Green Monster though, I found it to counter a lot of my usual tactics. I perfect guard as my main defense, and my weapon has a slow R2 with a short range. Imagine my surprise when the boss has an incredibly fast tentacle flail attack that inflicts Decay and is extremely difficult to perfect guard. It also guard breaks you if you try to block it.

I've since moved on and have accepted that sometimes it's just easier to use a Shot Put than to get mad about not being able to land my slow R2.

I don't get it either. Green Monster was a one-shot for me. Tbh, I killed him so quickly, and no I wasn't using a spectre nor throwables, that I couldn't even begin to give advice on the fight because it went by that fast. If I had to guess based on general complaint comments, it's the usual not learning when to dodge, when to parry, when to light attack, and when to charge attack.

Oh, and use whatever tactic you want to clear the fights. It's whatever you find fun and works for you. They put the tools in the game for a reason, and it's your choice what you want to do.

I found him quite challenging, but super fun. I had a blast with him. And the puppet-king. also that one wrestle guy. There is only one boss fight I didn't really enjoy and not because of its challenge, but because it was tedious.

My beef with the green monster was that after the first form, it just turned into the Scrapped Watchman but with more. Everything. I remembered the block timings, but the tentacles just felt so extra. Like did he really need something covering the window after his fury attack? Once I recognized the movement for his little crab scuttle, the fight turned way easier, but until then the whole second phase just felt like an uncomfortable twist on the Watchman to me.

Wouldn't say it's "incredibly fast", but like I said, simply outspacing it seems to be the go-to. Always keep your distance, go in when he's busy punching the air, rinse and repeat.

No summons it is, then. I am somewhat of a masochist, and a proud one, to be sure.

Which one? Out of curiousity. I know all their names already and how they look, so don't be shy.

I bet it was the Door Guardian. The most disappointing fight for me.

Funny thing is that I didn't even recognize the Watchman up until the signature overhead. It's only when he did that move I was like "Oh! I remember that one!"

Yes, I'm a dum-dum, moving on.

no, it was the second black rabbit fight. For some reason I didn't enjoy that one. I almost forgot about the door guardian lol. Didn't really count him as a boss tbh.

Yeah the second I saw the flippy-dippy arm swings I was like 'Oh god not again, you're making me do this but with decay instead?'

It took me a few tries but in retrospect it's one of the tamer bosses just because it's so cripplingly weak to fire in the first phase and its fury attack charge in the second has such an absolutely colossal amount of endlag if you just run it out instead of trying to perfect block.

Just like any Souls game man it is all about your playstyle and how you approach fights. I can find a fight easy and then you do it and spend the next hour on it.
