Question about certain ending *spoiler*

I want to get the "Free from the puppet string" ending on my ng+
does this ending require to 100% telling the truth? (unlike the lies ending where u can combine a little).

*I am asking because I missed a record on my first one and this is require me to lie to get it...
and I wanted to complete the records achievement on my second playthrough
-the record is when u have to lie to Belle about her companion.

I assume you've already completed this, but just in case you, or anyone else, is wondering: you can lie as much as you want, and in fact you HAVE to lie a certain amount to get this ending. You need to get to at least level 3 humanity so that you can actually get the choice in the end to pick "Refuse". If you only tell the truth you will not even have that option.
The ONLY thing you need for this ending is a slight amount of humanity (enough to be able to choose Refuse) and choose "Let her live" for Sophia. Any other decision is irrelevant and all guides that are saying to only tell the truth have not played this game.

Don't follow the guides that tell you to only say the truth and waste a whole playthrough, just to get to the ending and realize you can't even choose the right option cause you haven't lied enough.

TL;DR: Lie enough to get level 3 humanity, let Sophia live. Choose "Refuse". Everything else is irrelevant.

Real Boy: Lie any amount, choose "Give heart"
Free from the Puppet String: Lie enough to get level 3 humanity, let Sophia live, choose "Refuse".
Rise of P: Lie as much as you can, give Sophia peace, choose "Refuse".

EDIT: Changed text to level 3 humanity requirement seeing as people have tested level 2 (which I was uncertain about), which was not enough (I’d only tested level 1 which was not enough and 3 and 4 which was enough).

What is level 2? The Ergo is whispering? or long hair? As i got the cut strings ending without having my hair change.

I dont think your humanity level matters, if i had to guess, even if its high enough, you will likely still get the neutral ending if you dont give Sophia peace, since thats another requirement, or the opposite, that you give her peace but your humanity isnt high enough.

You can have the requirements for the Lies of P ending in the same playthrough as the Free from the Puppet String playthrough. You can be at any level to get it, the only thing that matters is which choice you make when you meet Sophia. I have not actually tested if you get the "Refuse" option at level 2, I've only tried at level 3, but I can tell you that I've done a whole playthrough doing only truth (meaning I'm at level 1, i.e "Your springs are reacting") at which point you DO NOT get the "Refuse" option.

While I'm almost certain level 2 is enough to get the prompt, I would suggest going safe and get to level 3.

For context I've ran through the game 6 times and also had my friend run through 4 times telling me exactly what he chose. The only thing we did not test was the level requirement of humanity for the "Refuse" option, which is either 2 or 3.

One little question : Despite having the "ergo is whispering", i don't have choice.
I can only give my heart to my dad.
But I have already this ending...
And it's already my fourth one.
I just need Free from the Puppet String ...
I had to close the game so I can't choose ...

For this ending i just speedran the game, didnt do any sidequests or anything,and told truth when prompted. I still chose to give sophia peace though (i can't bear to see her tortured like that)

I just did a whole fkn playthrough of truthtelling, and did not get the option to refuse and i'm furious. I had L2 humanity, so i guess it's L3 and above.

Always telling the truth means that you are a "good boy", a puppet instead of a human. Exactly what Geppetto wants, a good boy that is always in his control, in that way Carlo can't repeat the event of the past that lead to his death.

The problem i have is that ive just got free from the puppet string ending, but have told every lie possible apart from 2 minor truths, gave Sophia peace, then told simon i liberated her then refused to give up my heart, so my process goes against any post ive seen, confusing

Maybe there are more requirements? Do you have long gray hair? Did you fully listened to vinyls to get extra humanity?

I think each ending apart from the real boy one can go either way very quickly, in my first run, despite telling the truth and having short hair, when i let Sophia have her peace i got grey hair. but in this new run, with me telling a lie at every chance i got and also frequently listening to vinyls, when i gave Sophia peace, i didnt get grey hair.

Im pretty sure the only thing separating you getting the rise of p and free from the puppet string ending is your humanity level. despite me telling lies whenever i could i still only got to "you feel warmth" and not "your heart is pounding" so as long as you have humanity level 4 and refuse your heart im pretty sure you're confirmed to get the rise of p ending.

game gets a bit confusing
