Reduce difficulty in NG+
I am a huge fan of souls-like. And Lies of P, is really really up there along with my favourites. Now, i have this weird obsession of attempting a Platinum in souls-like games. For example DS-III made me play the game 3 times for the platinum.

When i finally beat the nameless puppet, it was pure bliss. I felt like the boss. It took me a good 3 hours to finally beat him. And looking back, i could see how i had improved. For the first 10 or so attempts, i was decimated in the first phase itself. Then i gradually started getting the parry timings correct, learning to time my attacks so as not to be smacked in the face immediately with a red attack. I learnt how many hits it takes to stagger him. and pretty soon, i could do the first phase no-hit.

The second phase was a whole different story. For about 1 whole hour, i had no clue what i was supposed to do. i couldn't even see his moves. i couldn't use my heal. i couldn't even repair my broken weapon. Saying that he was "RELENTLESS" is a massive understatement. and yet, slowly but surely, i kept improving. starting with a parry here, a dodge there... till, finally he went down.

It was the same feeling i had after beating the Slave Knight Gael in DS-III. You know what that means? Neowiz has been successful at decoding and re-implementing the souls formula that FromSoftware had a monopoly on till now. And that too WITHOUT being a copycat. Its an original game, with its own mechanics and paradigms. Awesome combat, beautiful story telling... they got everything right.

Till i jumped into NG+

What happened Neowiz?? Did someone die? Did your spouse abscond with another person? Did your child stop talking to you? What went wrong? After getting EVERYTHING right how can you get something so basic SOOOO wrong? How could you forget that "difficult" is not the same as "challenging". How could you fail to see that giving the boss 5 times more HP and damage doesn't necessarily make it a "CHALLENGING" boss. Sure, it makes it difficult, but you don't feel that bliss after beating it. You feel like "I'm not doing THAT again. Good heavens its over". While in NG, after a boss fight, i would be eagerly looking forward to the next one, in NG+, i dread it.

I went as far as the archbishop in NG+ and then i put the game down. And i won't pick it up again unless they do something about NG+. I am sure I'll get a bunch of comments saying "Git Gud !!". Well, i guess i am not good enough for NG+.

Was just thinking the same thing, a week ago or whatever they where saying they beat NG at lvl77 with no challenge what-so-ever outside of Nameless; suddenly the tutorial took them how many tries? lol

Only other answer I can think of is they didn't learn a single thing their whole first run about timing or resistances.

Schrodinger's gamer - a game is simultaneously too easy and too hard, until something happens. Then he chooses which state benefits him the most.

Strange, I agree with most comments that NG+ is way easier. Beat the NP @ level 80 and started NG+ smashing through most everything. and just annihilated the Brotherhood Pt2 around lvl 160 heading for the last few bosses.

I'd say that "easier" depends on a few factors, such as whether you keep leveling up or not, whether you use only the most optimized builds or if you're always experimenting, etc.

I'm on NG+3 right now, decided to stop at Level 256, also doing a "bonk only" run - clearing the entire game with Noblesse Oblige. It's such a slow weapon that it requires you to calculate your swings almost perfectly, and If I goof up, you better believe I'm getting my rear cavity annihilated, because at this point even basic enemies hit like a mississippi truck.

Hard disagree. New game plus was great and I went through it easier than original new game because I ha da good handle on boss movesets. I think its new game plus done right. They need to do a lot more damage and have more hp to combat the 100 plus levels you gained. Now late game new game plus gets very tough but thats half the reason I am playing it. Great job. There are ways of making it MUCH easier for yourself if you really want anyway. You can summon or use throwables or the aegis shield.

So, in spite of my ramblings in the original post. I played through the game a second time, and got my platinum. :steamhappy:

I am not changing my stance that NG+ is way more difficult than it should be. But, all the push-back i received in the comments about how NG+ was a breeze for them, made me reconsider my position. and i gave it my all.

Unlike in NG, i kinda cheated. I summoned spectres wherever i could, i reset my p-organ to be able to heal the spectre twice. I spent way too much money on throwables. but it worked out.

"Proof of humanity" is way too op. A 30% crit rate, and when combined with that grindstone which increases crit rates and the assassins amulet [more damage on crits] , hand of god amulet [successive hits have higher damage] and the one that increases damage proportional to the number of fable slots, it beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything. Well, everything that wasn't too busy smashing your skull in. That is where the spectre comes into the picture.

Closing remarks: I still think that NG+ is way too difficult. But i can also see why people claim that it was a "breeze". I thought i would never say this, but i am considering going for NG+2. I do need a break though.

I was impressed at the substantial jump in HP and damage on the enemies and bosses in NG+. It's still far easier than NG if you've built your character correctly and actually learned attack patterns, though. It doesn't need a nerf.

Dunno what you're on about, I'm one shotting most enemies at the Alchemist's Isle not even using my strongest weapons. The extra P organ upgrades and spare levels (I'm around level 150 atm) made the whole experience much easier than standard NG, to the point where I'm going to run through NG+3 to get the final few achievements rather than starting a new save.

is there no way in game to increase your defense/resistances?
or is it like most other souls games where they matter very little (a bad move in my opinion, since defense and resistances should matter in meaningful ways, esp in ng+ since most like to do those)
