Why nocturnal pals not sleeping at the day?
Thats kinda weird no?
For better game mechanics its pretty much should be that daywalkers sleep at night and nocturnals sleep at day, imagine that strategy for workers on your base you have to think about. And also you could have passives daywalker\nocturnal which may change day\night behaviour for any pal. Such opportunities.

And what we got instead? nocturnal = 24/7 workers.
just why.

I was wondering that myself and you're right, that would be cool. Feels kinda weird that they never sleep.

And then you have little Nox, who out in the wild sleeps under cover during the day, only to come out at night to sleep some more. If I were a pal, this would be me.
(I do not know if this was changed since the last time I played)

But yeah, on the topic of the OP, i've always wondered this. As nice it is to have such workaholics, there's just... something not quite right with it.
I did notice that they do on occasion sleep when they get low on SAN though, so atleast there's that...

So how would that work when assigning pals to work at buildings like the refrigerator or generator? Would you need to assign a day shift and night shift? The current game mechanics really don't allow for that, so are you really asking for a system that forces players to manually reassign work shifts each morning and evening? Would you need to devote more base space to double up on your beds?

Honestly it just sounds like too much hassle just to make a change to make useful pals less productive.

Well i mean like why the heck does grintale spawn at night, but then sleeps at night?

And also, I think one thing night pals should be is like when you go to sleep, they will super fast forward all the work they did over the night.

Just an idea.
If they changed "Nocturnal" to "Insomniac" it would help explain the pals staying awake during the night a bit better. It doesn't quite explain pals spawning at night only and sleeping at night, but it would kind of explain why they stay awake for a few days until Sanity drops low enough and they take a nap.

You kidding right? am i asking what?
Of course game mechanics dosnt have that and day\night shift might be added aswell with the same update because its just logicaly needed for that kind of idea.

obviously you cant do that now, duuh

Lol, the "answer to your question" is the guy who agrees with you?

For immersion, I'd agree with you. For mechanics, I wouldn't. Day is longer than night. It's balanced that way because non-nocturnal/dark pals are the norm, and you want night to be more of a fun mechanic than a massive dead period. However, if you change nocturnal/dark pals to sleep during the day, you either have a massive dead period compared to the active period or make things weird, with pals falling asleep for some portion of the day. Things are fine as they are.

Vestrinex's idea of changing nocturnal to insomniac might work. It goes well with Palworld's brand of humor. Though nocturnal was likely chosen as a counterpart to dark pals, since that's pretty much what they are and nocturnal is essentially copying their mechanic.
