First promotions, then maybe ingame events, then comes MTX and the BattlePal.
Monotization can get pretty bad, but at some point one needs to understand that for a game to keep an online function, it needs an income beyond an initial pricetag. Free online services just don't exist in the world.
The online servers are... not something I care about. At all. They don't save your progress, wipe frequently, and are filled to the brim with hackers.
Skins are the stupidest thing to have ever existed. It's very clear that they are going to absolutely squeeze this game dry, they know they have a cash cow and there are plenty of dummies. Skins are hyper low effort, hyper monetizable, and pull developers away from what they should be doing... actually getting the game past release.
This is bad in more ways than one.
Free? They literally have just the master server
And now apparently cosmetics server?
