Where are the best sulfur base locations?
As the title says. I see a lot of sulfur on Mount Obsidian, but also a lot of lava. I'd be worried of my pals wandering into the lava and dying without supervision. Is that the only decent area for multiple nodes? If anyone can supply pictures as well as advice, that would be awesome.

Near the tower on Mount Obsidian. No lava in the way to worry about.

Just me, or walking on the lava does nothing, its like its just 'pretty' ground?

You might have something turned off. I stepped in lava and burned to death, and had one of my pals also fall in and die during a fight.

I wish we had open world caves we could use. Kind of like the deep sea caves in ark, or even regular caves we could build in.

I find some is deathly and a lot is just normal ground with 'lava' look. The worst part, you can't tell which is which.

So you walk on some and think lava is safe and then the next one burns you to death. I guess they forgot to set the lava flag on some area

And it's not just lava in dungeons that doesn't burn?

That place is cursed since even normal pieces of land is lava (what I see is a perfectly normal piece of land I walk on it and I start getting burned like why am I taking damage out of nowhere. Mind you there is no hostile pals or lava around it)

I agree. But the pal pathing would be HORRIBLE.

I could see that being the issue. They missed a few patches here and there. Not gonna be me who tests it out though. xD

Yes, but i asked for the best locations.

I have a main base north east of dragon legendary spawn spot. On top of hill near the weird buildings (you cant build on them).

All i do is fly down and i have lots of iron nodes on same spot and then when i go left i have so much sulfur that i dont know wtf to do with it. (there are also 3 coal spots near a dungeon spawn)

Also -- there is a way to avoid all lava damage (well most of it) on map and this is by simply making a fondation squares all over it. (note that stairs and angled roof do not work)

You can disable building decay in world settings (for singleplayer) and just build over dangerous terrain and never fear magma there again.

Generaly, its better to mine sulfur yourself as you dont realy need that much compared to other basic ore (that you need tons)

There is at least one open world cave, where the brancherry aqua alpha is at. But it's pretty narrow with a small opening at the end.

Thank you.

This is the kind of info I was looking for. Was also wondering if foundations could be used to 'pave' the area over lava or not.

I'll give you a bit of slightly better advice though. When setting foundations, place them on the safe ground, but at a slightly higher level than the lava. If you attach a wall to the foundation, you can then attach flat roof panels to the same side as the wall you placed for a certain distance. Add in more walls as connectors as needed and you can use them as floors that don't contact the ground at all. You might still want to put in some foundations as well, but you can skirt around the actual lava patches a bit more, resulting in less foundation degradation.

i do think your heat resistance plays a part in burning in lava, sort of like freezing in the snow and yes i do agree its crazy but it seems thats the case
