Bug: Burn When Flying Over Lava With A Hybrid Mount
Eg:- Shadowbeak, Frostallion
Basically mounts which have walking+flying burn when theyre flying high over lava, unlike pure flying mounts like Beakon, Ragnahawk.

Yeah. It is a bug with hybrid mounts. Basically, they seem to always be counted as 'on the ground' even while flying. So if it walks when you are on the ground, and is not a fire type, it gets set on fire. Heat resistance has absolutely nothing to do with it. Heat resistance provides no protection from lava or fire damage.
Fire resistance provides no protection from actual heat damage.
Anyone that says otherwise is outright lying. They are two entirely separate mechanics with two separate resistances.

That said, TECHNICALLY, I suppose heat protection provides protection from fire causing your temperature to hit 'too hot' and take separate damage from being too hot as well. But that is still a separate mechanic entirely.

Well there *IS A BUG*, definitively, since last update (v.0.3.4), because I was able to fly over Obsidian mountain before with my full heat resist gear on my Vanwyrm, and I can't anymore. Even worse, I start burning when I just *summon* him.

I can walk freely without issue on Obsidian mountain, but the moment I summon my Pal, I start burning ! Trying to mount it to fly does the same, I burn. And I'm over the ground, not even over lava. It's like it doesn't take my accessories or my armor into account anymore or something. (I have heat resist on my armor, undershirt, and ring.)

Hybrids are regarded as land mounts that can fly, that's why they burn and "swim".
When they're on the ground they are walking, not flying.

Only pure flying mounts avoid this when travelling over water/lava.

frost mounts would take your heat down and in turn cause you to burn right? Cause they cause cold damage when you're on them.

Okay so as I said : I was not over lava, I was over, and even on ground, so I don't get why it should happen (yes, I know it would happen over lava, so I was not, I was on the beach).

Actually, as I said, I was using that same mount before and it wasn't doing that, but now, suddenly, since v0.3.4, it does, and it starts as I summon it, so the damage start even before I mount it (Vanwyrm, fire type, which I used in this region before and never did me damage).

Seems that when you summon him the heat counter goes over the heat resistance counter. That shouldn't happen when wearing both heat resistance armor and the +2 heat- or multiclimate shirt. (unless you're standing in lava, which you clearly state you're not) Definitely sounds like a bug, although you're the first to mention it. Unless...is one of the two broken by any chance?

Ahh ok then it sounds like what Rick is saying, your overdoing the heat resistance counter.

Can check that in game, it's the little dial down the bottom of the screen, it jumps around when things get hot and cold, if it goes all the way to the end of each side, extreme hot or cold you will start taking damage.

I recommend getting that multiclimate shirt from the dog coin trader for 100 coins, it's a steal at that price and combined with pretty much any armour that gives +1 to hot and cold resistance you become more or less immune to environmental damage.
Least i've not found any place in the game so far where i've taken any environmental damage since I bought it.

Yup, just did bought that undershirt. Still pretty strange though that I started taking damage while I summoned my Pal, even if I didn't mounted it? (And well, dunno, guess Vanwyrm's heat damage wasn't working before but now it does, I dunno.)

Anyway, got the equivalent of 6 heat resist with the Medals' Merchant undershirt, so it's not happening anymore, even not taking damage flying over lava.

It was changed after launch, when heaters and fires also got changed. Hot pals generate their own heat around them. Cold pals generate cold around them. You do not have to be mounted you just need to be in their proximity. That additional temperature difference from your pals goes above and beyond environmental temperatures.

So yeah, you can totally burn yourself by pulling out a hot pal while in a hot area if you do not have enough temperature protection.

Oh okay okay, got it. It thought it was only when we were mounting them : I stand corrected! :)
