Restrict Pal access to Storage
Is there a way to restrict access to pals to certain storages?

Like, I don't wanna have pals storing berries into my personal chests (where I keep armor, ammo, etc) and so on.

-put chest near their work stations.
-put your chest far away or inside something.
-food always is stored in food basckets > fridges > chests only using the next one if the first is full.
-fill all the spaces in your chests with something like honey (but forget using the sort button again).

^ Putting chests you want them to use in common work/transit areas takes care of 99% of it.

Berries will never be a problem as long as you have a feed station out. Speaking of these, you'll want to make sure to keep the first slots filled with stuff you want them to eat so they don't go consuming the milk, eggs, wheat, etc that you'll want for other stuff.

Load up all the empty spaces with 1 cotton candy or something. Problem solved. Not the perfectest solution. But cotton candy definitely works for feed boxes, and unlike honey you're not liable to go producing it in your base.

they still put rock or other random trash found on the ground in them.

three floors up, no door access, edge of base area, locked, inside a locked building, 3 floor below the top (basically center of a cube).
they still put trash in my bedside table or wall decoration (that has storage).

they can't even enter or get near. I come back from a hike and find 4 stone, 3 stick, an egg (no chikipi on base, no nearby spawn, no raid), and sometime ore.

Btw, all floor are 3 wall height up. as in the ceiling can't be touched unless you literaly fly. there's enough space for a Jormuntide alpha to stand up and not touch anything (I don't use them in that base). building size is 7 length, 7 wide, 21 height. Unscalable (+1 to wide and length from floor 2 onward), no slope, no stairs (only holes to access next floor).

It makes no sense... but then again I sometime see Pals picking up an item, standing still for a second and then the item vanish from their hands and appear in a random chest.. then they walk to another item and do the same. Meanwhile they need to walk from the farm to the chest that is as close a possible to the farm entrance to deposit a wool or whatever is there.
so yeah, they can teleport item into a container which is unreachable, closed off, too high... as long as it is inside the base border. go figure. I even tried replacing all doors, windows and holes with plain walls, putting walls EVERYWHERE and sealing everything. turning the building into a massive cube of cubes, a rubrik's cube stuck in place. and they STILL put stuff in it.
I know... I was in the container "room" waiting for it to happen. and it did.

So I gave up, all container are Pal's trashcans now. I made a second base for items and NO Pals to work. it's just a chest/building area with no tools, stations, or pals.

I feel this. At one point, I thought that if I lock the chest using the security feature, the pals will ignore it, but it didn't. We can probably suggest like a toggle for work or personal chest. The replies here pretty much gave a good suggestion though with mindful placement of chests. It works. Though I would sometimes find an occasional wood and fiber inside those chests and then the pals will find just berries in their food box the next day.

for the record, if you use "levels" in your base, your pals won't distinguish "its on a different floor" they will go to it if they think its the closest (all the more reason to keep a storage next to every work station). even if that means going across the whole base to get to a staircase.

the next thing is they can pass items through walls IF your storage chests are right up against it. So you want to keep your storage chest about 1/2 of one foundation tile away from any wall (I'd go a full tile away to be safe). You might feel weird having your storage in the middle of a room/not against a wall, but they won't ever put stuff in it going through a wall

Imagine a single flat square.
Make it 49 squares in a square. so 7x7 foundations
put walls EVERYWHERE. then a ceiling. You get 49 cubes.
Clone it upward so that you have a 7x7x3.
That's ONE of my "FLOORS". I GOT 7 OF THOSE STACKED. total is 7L x 7W x 21H
I filled them with walls and ceiling/floors for this test
It's bigger than the boss towers.

the chest, the decorative container, and the box are all in the centermost cube on the center of the 4rth floor. Basically the 11th floor if you count each wall height as a floor.
it's behind 4 layers of walls on each sides.
No doors. No windows. no slopes. no stairs. I removed the overhang. It's just a huge block or cubes now.
The chest is locked.

welp. Like I said earlier... as soon as the container is touching the base area (blue limiter) even if only by a corner, they will put trash in it at random by teleporting it from the other side of the base. even when there are 3 chest, unlocked, already with those items in various stack size under 9990 AND empty spots in front of the building, in the middle of the base, and at the other side of the base.

it's not gamebreaking. it's not gonna ruin my day. It's just stupidly annoying they can do that without even seeing the container or touching the building.

oh and when they want to, they also teleport on top of the building.

And before you ask... I built everything and put the chest in there before putting any pals in the base. The very first one took a stone from the ground and teleported it. I put him back in the box and went to see the containers... all 3 outside the building were empty. of course, the bedside table locked and hidden was the one with the stone.

If I could, I'd slap that pal. it didn't even take 5 seconds.

Some way to manually designate storage would be nice. I keep finding rocks and wood in containers that are very far out of the way, out to the edge of the base. There's space in the chests much closer to the mining and logging areas, but they fill up my dresser and egg storage with random stuff.
There's also a chest near the skill fruit tree, which they sometimes use correctly.

Omg..this!!! We need some system for this! Its sooo annoying, the ai path doesnt help either..

they will generally use the closest chest to the farm. I have never had an issue with them placing berries in my personal chest. I simply place that chest in my room or someplace up high. Additionally you can fill each slot with some cheap item like basic clothing or say a single arrow. They cant place items in a filled slot which can also help. Then you can just remove the arrow and place what ever in the slot.

But generally speaking just make sure your personal chest is someplace isolated, like your bedroom for example or where ever you are putting your personal bed at.

I've had people say the same thing to me. "Put them near work stations, in isolated areas, surrounded by walls, etc, etc, etc..." And none of it helped. I am always finding random junk in ANY/ALL of my chests, or storage things period. Just to test something, I actually made a 3x3 square, put a chest in the middle, and completely sealed it off with walls. and no door at all. Making it physically impossible to access the chest period.
After about 2-3 hours of playing, I broke a wall, opened the chest... berries, wheat, palspheres, gold coins, wool, lettuce, tomato... So yeah, Pals literally break physics to put things in boxes in my games. They just cannot be stopped. Outside of filling a chest with single gold coins or something. And the really messed up thing is... I put a fridge right next to farms, they ignore the fridge, to put berries and wheat and etc in chests that are further away from the fridges.
