You shouldn't be able to romance your pals unless they have 80 IQ or more
When you've got two beings who can have fun and connect on a deeper level, who cares about species labels? if your non-human pal is smart, emotionally on par, and can dish out the love as much as they receive it, why not give romance a chance? think about the emotional connection and the wild adventures you can have together. as long as you're both on board and treating each other right, who's to say you can't find love? if the mental capacity is equal(or near equal) it should be ok

It does raise the question though if a pal has a significantly higher IQ than their human whether or not the human can properly consent. i think it would be immoral in that case

Well assuming this thread isn't a troll. I don't think IQ alone is really the metric to be measuring if a Pal can consent with humans or not.

There are animals in real life that pass that requirement, as well as humans in real life who don't even pass on average (Some countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America are well below 80 average IQ)

The only Pal that is even hinted as being able to consent, and willing would be the Loveander.

The issue with this topic also is even if it were to occur, are the Pals actually willing participants, or does the Pal-sphere introduce a sort of programming which forces Pals to obey their handler? In that case you aren't able to decide what the Pal really wants, sure it will do what you tell it, but does the Pal want to?

I'd really like to know what the process is to give an animal an IQ test.

Well, while it's undisputed that humans overall are the smartest species. But I think most IQ tests are measure animals based on their ability to problem solve, their mental and emotional capacity, and their ability to be self aware of themselves.

Most of these tests don't really measure the ability to consent or not. The IQ tests are also pretty basic tests as it's hard to really measure such a thing. But people are going to ask, so we tried to come up with something

which animals have above an 80 IQ?

Also theres a pal that uses a bow and arrow and those take a lot of work to craft and maintain. I'd also say that the fact that many pals can help craft intricate items means they are close to human intelligence
Thing is even with a test.. what is the standard? Some countries have 14 as age of consent and others have 18 or higher... What standard do you use? What formula is used to get just the standard line alone?

And who cares lol its a game with fuzzy monsters. If want sex then go for it lol If dont then well... dont lol

I saw something saying gorillas and sometimes dolphins are possible to have above 80. It wasn't across the board for the species, just a few outliers, but it could happen. I also feel like sources on this are pretty unreliable

As for Pals using tools, I do wonder if the Pals actually know how to use the tools, or the Pal-sphere is able to command them to do so, maybe giving them the ability to. Because so far I know we don't see too many Pals creating their own tools in the wild normally

The only two Pals that I can think of that use tools in the wild are the Robinquill and the Bushi
Id say dogs likely are above 80 iq too.
Infact i think many pals have much higher iq's than a lot of people on forum judging by the threads.

So basically, give it the ol' Harkness Test?

Once again, I'd like to ask how it's even possible to give an IQ test to an animal.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. You can't even give every human an IQ test, which is one of the reasons given for IQ tests to not be a reliable indicator of intelligence.

So I found for Koko the gorilla, they actually gave Koko the same IQ tests you'd give humans, infants specifically, and she was able to take said tests

I should add that most of these IQ tests were given to animals quite some time ago also, so it's hard to say if the information gathered from them is still up to date or valid anymore. Now it would probably be more appropriate to measure them based on simply ranking them rather than an IQ

The Koko the gorilla story is a well known hoax.

I can't really find anything saying it's a hoax, but I am also not fully believing it either. I do think most of the sources are outdated/old though as most of the tests were given in the 90s 2000s

I'm confused, did this guy just try to logically defend fictional video-game bestiality...?

Who hurt you, dude?

Edit:
For a kind of 'fyi' .. dolphins have a higher capacity in their cerebellum than humans and primates, but I think your 'logic' would get you in deep trouble at seaworld, my brother.
I mean separate topic but if it's moral to kill animals to eat them I think it's hypocritical to claim bestiality is immoral

Tell me you are a furry...
