Assembly line placement
How do I tell which side of an assembly line Pals stand on before placing, building, and trying to use one? I've placed a production assembly line down a dozen times so far, and it's somehow been backwards every single time.

the tables in front/back of it aren't symmetrical so you can kinda use them to tell the 2 sides apart, but there isn't any obvious indicator of which is front and which is back, so you just need to trial and error it

they really need to remove the table that is behind the assembly lines, it has no purpose, it's just in the way, and it makes it hard to tell the front from the back
The arms are attached on the back side. They pals stand on the front side.

That works for the tier 2s, but not the tier 1s because they have no arms.

The assembly lines should start facing you, but if you already rotated them you may have to test which side is which.

The first assembly line has no arms. I was having the same issue just today. I ended up placing it and came to assume that the backside is facing me each time. When I just dropped it, pals always seem to go to the opposite side (after dancing around bad pathing routes even though there are 2-3 blocks free around the end they choose).

Now I just try to rotate it completely when I'm dropping.

Can't pals stand on either side of the assembly lines and work?

I did just notice the belt always seems to move right to left, if standing where the pals will. Can't tell that before it's build though. Eventually got it, had to stand still to make sure the rotations were the the same. Don't have anything tier 2 yet, was reorganizing my base for when I get tier 2.

Pals don't have to be able to reach the "working spot" of any building to use it properly, but it looks much nicer when they're all standing there in a line instead of scattered on top of your other workstations massaging the air.
