Assign certain items to each chest
I wish and hope (in the future) that they add an option so we could assign items to certain chest and also preventing certain items to be picked up and transported by your pals. Also assign specific food to put in the food basket.

E.g Pals eat the food in the first slot, but when it's empty (because they ate it all) they are eating the second slot, and sometimes pals bring lettuce or tomatoes or eggs etc, and you don't want them to eat it but it's going to be put in the first slot since it's empty and so they will eat it all before you could bring the food to the fridge/cooler.

+1
It'd be great if locked chests couldn't be touched by Pals nor would they be pulled from. I've found myself holding like 45 pounds of ancient parts because some of the people in my guild are build/happy and I don't want to have them blow through mine.

Add another +1 to this
Although I didnt't test it, it should be possible that you can just fill up chest slots with one piece of a certain item so pals can't just fill another chest. Therefore you can make chests for a certain type of item that your pals will transport stuff to.

So for food, put your main food in the first slot then put a piece of cotton candy in the remaining slots to block them off. Cotton candy never expires so it will only allow your main food item (I use jam toast) in the feeding trough. Any other food they pick up will be put in your fridge. Use a Vanwyrm Crys for day and night refrigerating.

Yes .. there are a couple things this game badly needs.

Some kind or priority system for jobs and for individual 'work skills' for each Pal. You need to say to a Pal with more than one 'work skill'. You prioritize Gathering then Planting then Mining. While being able to set a second of the same type to other priorities.

You need to same type of priorities for storage. Store all the berries from this plantation in the icebox for cake, put all the berries here in this storage to make backed berries .. overflow into that feedbox.

Cotton candy is a very decent SAN food as a backup as well.

That does work .. problem is, if there are free spots in any other chest they might put anything in there instead of using your chest.

You can make it so that the chest you prepopulated ONLY has what you wanted. But when you Pull items for building, you also can't control where they come from.

They can come from your prepopulated chest .. leaving zero there and letting a Pal put whatever they want in there instead.

I absolutely start out the way you mentioned though.

Yeah I totally forgot about the fact that items will be consumed by crafting and/or building stuff. I just thought about this method because this is how I organized stuff in minecraft so I could just mindlessly move my inventory into different chests.

As for pals moving stuff, they usually focus the closest chest no? But judging from the current AI this is probably not 100% reliable.

You could solve this with making is possible to:

1. define a storage slot to a certain item;
2. disable storage slots, so they can't be used.

Adding +1 to this. Having a mechanic to make it so only certain items can be placed in a chest by your pals would be amazing :pumpkincat:

Well, if you want them to store your items like Wood, Stone, and other suff which they mine or get on farm, place Wood foundation near it and place chest on it. I don't know why, but when I placed chest near it and it was on ground, they store nothing in it and walk a mile to the chest on the other side of the base which I have on foundation. Hope this help a little bit ^^

My trick is to put a single gold coin into the empty slots of chests to keep my pals from sticking rocks and wood in chests all the way on the opposite side of my base.
