Its 60% done, if you wait + mods (without much optimism) can be another NV.
But one of the best factors is the price. You're getting something that's in a better state than many AAA releases, but it only costs a modest indie price.
If you do buy in though, keep in mind that early access means early access. It's unfinished and unpolished. Not that it's in a bad state, in fact it's better than many freshly released early access games I've played, but it's still in need of a few years' work.
There are some minor bugs like my pals getting stuck over some objects and forcing me to send them back to the box and respawn them so they can eat, but it such a small issue that I don't think it makes my gameplay worse, specially bcoz it's kinda rare.
I am waiting for updates and bug fixes though, because i did have a good time, a lot of people are having a great time with this game despite its flaws!!
its not done yet but very promising.
there's always a risk with ea on steam though.
If you like survival sandboxes it's a pretty fun game. I find the creature capture aspect pretty compelling myself.
If you don't want to have to return to your base periodically to micromanage operations and unstuck your pals you may want to wait for them to fix the pathfinding and AI issues. The game could also use a task priority system like Rimworld so you can better control what you want your pals doing.
Oh god no... do NOT buy this game right now. It's so broken in so many ways.
Pals falling through the ground, getting stuck every time they try to attack in the mostly-empty dungeons or if there's a wall within 30 feet of them, massively overpowered raids, pathing issues, lack of storage, etc.
Given their history I'm not sure that waiting is going to help, but mods might fix things later.
Another good example, just had a bunch of pals dropping items and then others would pick it up and drop it. because they are hungry, but the food is going to the food pit anyway... so they all stood there trading the same berries and starving. It's a hot mess, avoid for now.
Another good example of PP's poor coding: You can't place a wardrobe in a base with a one-wall tall roof unless you're standing on the stairs. No joke. It goes on the roof. How does that make it past QC and alpha, much less beta testing?
Plus they just throw crap in boxes without stacking it on already-stored materials... the list goes on and on and on.
Sure it has problems, as others mentioned the AI pathing is ridiculous, but it's nothing you can't fix by putting your pal away then taking it back out again ("have you tried turning it off and on again?" works on pals, I guess)
But in general it's still very enjoyable. I have about 13-ish hours I think? (cant be bothered to check) and I'll probably play a little more before putting it aside until the game is out of early access,
But if you can't stand those kind of issues, then by all means wait. But honestly, I suggest you do what I did.. steam refunds within 2 hours.. so just get it, give it a try, you should have a good enough idea if you'll like the game or not within that time. If you don't, get your money back and move on
It's too grindy for me and reminds me of the worst aspects of Ark Survival Evolved.
Personally i'd like more of a story and campaign in my pokemon clone, open world is nice and all but it get's boring for me after a while.
