Buy or bake?
Would you just buy it again as it is, or wait some more time for bugfixes/polishing? Any gamebreaking stuff so far ?

If you play it fresh with zero spoilers you can get 100 hours easy. Worth the money. :Miller:
Its 60% done, if you wait + mods (without much optimism) can be another NV. :beeped:

Knowing what I know now, I'd 100% buy it again. There are a lot of annoyance-level bugs, but I've encountered no game-breakers. Saying that, I've been playing solo, there are major issues with multiplayer which do venture into game-breaking territory. There's also plenty of content, even if it's a bit light on polish and depth currently.

But one of the best factors is the price. You're getting something that's in a better state than many AAA releases, but it only costs a modest indie price.

If you do buy in though, keep in mind that early access means early access. It's unfinished and unpolished. Not that it's in a bad state, in fact it's better than many freshly released early access games I've played, but it's still in need of a few years' work.

If Steam made a mistake and refunded me, I'd insta buy it on the store again.

There are some minor bugs like my pals getting stuck over some objects and forcing me to send them back to the box and respawn them so they can eat, but it such a small issue that I don't think it makes my gameplay worse, specially bcoz it's kinda rare.

I refunded. I didn't like the AI and how screwed up they were. Pals are dumb and do a lot of stupid stuff like get under platforms or find ways inside your home and starve themselves. It's a hot mess and needs a lot of work in the AI department. I disabled the raids because they would just run, hit a wall and not doing anything. The AI in palworld is the dumbest AI I've seen to date. Fix it and I may revisit.

AI and pathing need some work, but nothing overtly game breaking. Your mileage may vary though. And even you end up bored with base game content: mods are coming.

I got bored after 30ish hours, but i like to come back to this forum to witness the madness :p. The buggy AI and the very repetitive nature of the game got too tedious for me.
I am waiting for updates and bug fixes though, because i did have a good time, a lot of people are having a great time with this game despite its flaws!!

its not done yet but very promising.

there's always a risk with ea on steam though.

There are some bugs. Most of which relate to the AI for your pals and other enemies. It's a bit annoying but you can fix most of them by returning your pals to the box and resummoning them. I haven't had the game crash or otherwise run into anything major.

If you like survival sandboxes it's a pretty fun game. I find the creature capture aspect pretty compelling myself.

If you don't want to have to return to your base periodically to micromanage operations and unstuck your pals you may want to wait for them to fix the pathfinding and AI issues. The game could also use a task priority system like Rimworld so you can better control what you want your pals doing.

Oh god no... do NOT buy this game right now. It's so broken in so many ways.

Pals falling through the ground, getting stuck every time they try to attack in the mostly-empty dungeons or if there's a wall within 30 feet of them, massively overpowered raids, pathing issues, lack of storage, etc.

Given their history I'm not sure that waiting is going to help, but mods might fix things later.

Another good example, just had a bunch of pals dropping items and then others would pick it up and drop it. because they are hungry, but the food is going to the food pit anyway... so they all stood there trading the same berries and starving. It's a hot mess, avoid for now.

Another good example of PP's poor coding: You can't place a wardrobe in a base with a one-wall tall roof unless you're standing on the stairs. No joke. It goes on the roof. How does that make it past QC and alpha, much less beta testing?

Plus they just throw crap in boxes without stacking it on already-stored materials... the list goes on and on and on.

Totally buy! :slimetabby:
id probably wait. the game is pretty empty, with no form of plot whatsoever. its not nearly large enough nor has enough interesting features and things to do/see to make it a viable multiplayer game, while the way its currently built the game is virtually unplayable solo without mods.

Not a fan of pokemon/survival/building games, but I enjoy this one.
Sure it has problems, as others mentioned the AI pathing is ridiculous, but it's nothing you can't fix by putting your pal away then taking it back out again ("have you tried turning it off and on again?" works on pals, I guess)
But in general it's still very enjoyable. I have about 13-ish hours I think? (cant be bothered to check) and I'll probably play a little more before putting it aside until the game is out of early access,
But if you can't stand those kind of issues, then by all means wait. But honestly, I suggest you do what I did.. steam refunds within 2 hours.. so just get it, give it a try, you should have a good enough idea if you'll like the game or not within that time. If you don't, get your money back and move on

The content matches its price tag -- go for it.
Zef Jan 29, 2024 @ 11:57am
I refunded it after 2 hours of playing.

It's too grindy for me and reminds me of the worst aspects of Ark Survival Evolved.

Personally i'd like more of a story and campaign in my pokemon clone, open world is nice and all but it get's boring for me after a while.
CyberDown Jan 29, 2024 @ 11:59am
Would 100% buy again. Only play solo. Never played pokemon anything before. Solid take on crafter survival that doesnt take itself too serious, has a bit of rimworld type games via assigning your pets to do work in base, but without the insanity of everyone dying always.
