Every Pal in the game is inspired by, but is NOT a copy of, a pokemon. Gameplay mechanics CANNOT be copy-written, so the capture/collection mechanic is fine (otherwise Monsterhunter would also have been in trouble).
The game is their prior work (Craftopia) with an added monster capture mechanic.
I don't think there are any infringing pals, the bar is quite high. But certain people seem to have the impression if they can find any similarities between one asset and another, the company has to put all the company assets and staff into a rocket and shoot it into the sun.
Some designs look like digimons, some like pokémons, other look like they were being inspired from Monster Rancher. There might be a discussion that the industry would need to have in regards to the use of AI to come up with monster designs, but that's one hell of a rabidhole that would need copyright legal experts to work together on the subject. Not random people on the internet.
But comrade, I thought property was theft?
