They basically think that Pocketpair is feeding pokemon creature designs into LLMs (large language models - tools like chatGPT that people are calling "AI" at the moment) to generate fakemons and bypass copyright. Given the game has been in development since 2021, and the slander originated from a poster also making baseless claims that Pocketpair are somehow involved in crypto/NFTs (which, from a cursory search engine prompt, has shown exactly zero relevant answers), I'm inclined to think that this is just a bunch of paid shills throwing any ♥♥♥♥ they can find at the wall and hoping something sticks.
Shocking what furries can do when they put their minds to it
Lovander, curse beast of Palworld, would like to know your location.
Here's a tip... when you troll at least make it believable. If you think using AI is going to have a title removed, you need to look around m8. Everything is being created by AI, Videos/Pictures/Content/Games/Drugs AI will be used for everything. Shut down? you need ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shut down.

Personally I think, if Nintendo can find anything that just resembles a pokemon in one of the designs of the videos, then they will sue. The question is if they can or can´t find that evidence.
Personally I don´t care to much, this is just another Valheim, they popup now and then and they do give people that like to play MP survival sandbox games with friends some fun.
So that is great for those that want it and it does seem to deliver fun to people..
I'm not even in the game yet >.> Linux is running me in circles.
You don't need to prove that you didn't do something.
If they find one that resembles a pokemon, they won't sue. They'll send a politely worded threat and the devs will drop everything to retool that one instantly. The last thing the devs want is to get tangled up in a lawsuit while they're making hay.
There's no world where the magnitude of the breach is so significant that it requires the game to be taken down.
Yeah, I should have read further down the thread to read about his 'friend at valve'.
I'm playing and didn't know about lovander til you mentioned it
Nintendo's Tokyo offices are literally 15 minutes away from the Palworld devs'. Anyone trying to look at this with assumptions based on the very litigious US legal system is completely missing the fact that the clocks of the legal system tick differently in Japan. Formally, yeah, fair enough, this is addressed in the RPS article, but we're not in the realm of likely infringement here. Imitation isn't illegal in the US nor in Japan.
They *did* admittedly move pretty hard and fast against an attempt to make a mod with actual Pokemon. Which is also just one more hint at the fact that Nintendo is aware, but as long as no copyrighted Pokemon characters or Pokemon trademarks are used, all is fine.
It is, I've been waiting for this game for three years >.>
...and something like this game for about twenty. Not sorry.
