Nowhere have we seen any evidence that December Nvidia drivers are causing crashes.
Don't believe me?
Nvidia's newest driver notes from just yesterday are right here:
https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/551.23/551.23-win11-win10-release-notes.pdf
Where in Known issues, Open Issues, or Fixed issues does it describe what you claim?
Just because your "solution" "fixed" the problem doesn't mean you knew what the problem was.
And never mind you're telling people to open themselves up to dozens of security vulnerabilities, and not once disclosed that information...
As soon as I got that December 2023 patch from NVIDIA everything went to chaos from there on, so after reading from google posts on similar matters, I did a backroll to November 2023 patch (a month back) and since then I my PC works extremely fine. Which after that I stopped accepting NVIDIA updates due to that issue.
Thus I post this small info too in case that it might help others too.
If NVIDIA has fixed that problem good for them, as I already got "scared" (lets say) doing any other newly updates for my Graphic card.
It could have simply been something as stupid as a single sector corrupted while you were installing the driver.
The fact that you didn't even try a clean driver install after it seemingly failed says a lot about your experience in this area.
For context, helping people launch new games is a bit of a hobby of mine on Steam. I've been doing it for roughly 10 years, give or take, (on top of 22 years of experience running my own PC repair business) and I could chop off 3 fingers and still count on 1 hand how many times a Driver rollback was the ACTUAL proper solution. (seriously, you can look through my post history; even search for the word driver if you want)
Now you've opened several users up to literally years of vulnerabilities and bugs, and you don't even know for certain you were right.
(I'm pretty sure you're not, since Nvidia forum users will nag the hell out of them and it would have at least made it to known issues by now)
And many of them are eventually going to have to undo this mess you encouraged anyway, since many games check what driver version you are running and will not launch with certain versions, or just straight up have things like broken shadows if you don't have the correct driver. These people don't know it yet, but you've created future problems for them.
The only link I posted in here was from NVIDIA site and not from any other site that may include any malicious fake info (even though Valve checks them automatically when you post them).
As I said, I am not updating my NVIDIA with their patches after that situation that happened to me BUT if there will be any future patch over their broken patch that fixes it, I may consider it because yeah who wants to have an un-updated Graphic Card!?! (Although I keep my Windows always update for security reasons as you are saying)
Okay let me rephrase a little bit:
p.s. Please feel free to "smudge" my name too
p.p.s I am stopping from posting in order to avoid creating issues to fellow Steamers so I wish you all a great day and have fun in game
