I personally like this over the mod, the gameplay is different, its packed with story, the mission tree is fantastic.
I just think it depends on the person.
I enjoyed the mod a lot, but I aint going back to it. You could perhaps love the mod and dislike this game.
It's all personal ig

Playing without a mod maybe and future patches / DLC?

So you based your opinion over what you heard, and want to spread "awareness" from it?

New Horizons bad, New Civilisations better

Then you haven't been looking too deeply. Most people are capable of doing their own due dilligence. Steam reviews are largely useless but there are always a few that provide good information without bias.

Never played the mod, played a bit of Stellaris but always was overwhelmed with DLC content, this game is perfect for me as a Star Trek fan. I am finding references all over the place and enjoying over 5 hours now! Also, game didn't crash once for me, so sorry some people are not able to experience it because of it...all in all, try the game, then judge it.

Because mods are free and modders aren't obligated to update them when the version changes.

I played both this and the mod New Civilizations. This is different. It's kind of like birth of the federation, kind of like stellaris. The mod is definitely solidly like stellaris with a star trek can of paint. There's some huge mechanical changes to the game that make things interesting. Colonizing is really expensive. There's no naval cap, instead you have a special resource for upkeep. Economy has been completely re-balanced. I like what they did to make agriculture actually useful (colonies cost much more food). Tradition trees are different. Ethics are not really a thing you have to worry about.

I actually think it'd make for a pretty interesting 4 player head to head.

I will say, I was actually overwhelmed by the I game initially, just cause I am so used to my standard builds in stellaris, and it took a lot longer to get to where I want to be with everything. Alloys might be the meta early game now, so you can build up a fleet early, but you only start with corvette equivalents, and that's kind of bad.

I have only played as the Romulans, and they might be the weakest race in the game for economy and military might starting, but, I currently outrank the federation, so... I'm also not sure, but I believe they can still diploannex minor empires. The one I met I cannot diploannex for reasons, but we'll see about past their sphere of influence.

This is kind of more like a more traditional 4x, btw, and I like that.

These mods have been up to date as long as I can remember. Please stop posting these "trust me bro" takes on these mods you've clearly never even seen.

The mods are fun but I never liked that you have to start in pre-federation times. There are way too many resources, events, pop ups, techs - it's all too much and becomes tedious. I can see the appeal but so far I'm liking Infinite better.
